Default Carpeting Home

I was looking at houses online and saw one that would have to be recarpeted. I was wondering if anyone had they home recarpeted recently.

What is the approximate cost for a decent quality carpet on a 1160 sq ft home?

I bought a home in April a 3 bedroom ranch about 1200 sq ft . They said it needed to be recarpeted. I had the carpeting stretched and cleaned and it looked like new. If you had seen it in the beginning you would have never believed it was the same carpet. At the time the RE agent told me about 1700.00 to carpet it. It cost me 600 to clean and stretch and I even had a bleach spot that they fixed for me. Stretching is guaranteed for 6 years. I figured if I get 3-4 years out of it I could then decide if I wanted wood or tile.

This is a question regarding stretching carpeting -- I need to replace my carpet in my house up north - the carpet is 16+ yrs. old. Because of unexpected dental expenditures, my plan to replace the carpeting this year may not happen. Is carpet stretching only done in Florida as I have never heard anyone stretching their carpeting up north here in the Chicago area? Thanks in advance.

Carpet streching is done any place they install carpet. When carpet is installed they stretch it so any company that installs carpet can also come out and stretch it. Also many carpet cleaning companies claim they stretch carpet but be careful they don't all know what they are doing

We are looking at replacing the carpet in our guest room (just put in laminate in other areas) and we will probably use East Coast Flooring and use a Shaw brand carpet they sell that is $3.59 per square foot installed. Haven't met with them yet on all the details (pad being the most important) so it could be a little more if you want to upgrade the pad.
