Exclamation Careful on 466a

Those who live on the "South Side" or use 466a be careful. Got an e-mail from a man who was charged $256.00 for going too fast in approx. 368 long stretch directly in front of the new County Seat building. It is 25 mph reduced from 35mph.
Sorry I'm out the door ... maybe someone else who got the e-mail can post.

Isn't the speed limit on 466A 45MPH?? Is this 35 MPH a recent change? Along with the 25 MPH.

According to the email they were doing 41 in what they thought was a 35 mph zone. There is a very short stretch that has recently been lowered to 25 mph. Apparently this stretch is a construction zone, however the ticket was received at night when there were no workers present, so the $256 wasn’t the result of the fine being doubled.

Those limits were in force when they were doing road work a couple years ago. I don't think it's that way now.

Sounds like it was on Powell Rd., not on 466A.

Just got back from Wildwood via 466a. The 45mph speed limit westbound begins just west of the stoplight at Powell Rd. and continues on unbroken until Fruitland Park. The only sign on 466a that in any way indicates a different speed is the one that indicates that the maximum speed in The Villages is 20mph unless otherwise posted.

If your friend was ticketed along 466a for going 41, then he either was stopped by a cop that misinterpreted that Villages speed limit sign or there was a temporary "non statute" speed limit sign posted for a construction zone which is no longer there.

There was a white unmarked police car parked in a turnaround place on 466A just west of Buena Vista yesterday at approx. 2pm. Traveling west I was going exactly 45 mph when a pickup pulling a trailer with mowers on it went flying pass me---- a few seconds later here come the police in the white unmarked and nailed him before he got to Powell Rd. I made my purchases at Ace hardware and on my way back the unmarked police car was shooting his radar at the east bound vehicles on 466A. Speed limit was 45mph all the way from Powell Rd to Morse Blvd. As far as I know, it has always been 45moh limit on this stretch of county highway.

I think you are right. The guy who wrote the e-mail got the ticket on
Aug.4th.

I and others get these e-mails that are forwarded around to Villagers. This one was slow getting to our street.

But it does seem like you need to watch your speed on 466a.

Is'nt this what everyone always complains about, construction or landscape trucks going too fast and blowing stop signs. Thank your lucky stars the coppers are doing their job.

Seems like most police departments have two units. One for police work, crime etc. the other is traffic. They are not police really, just ticket writers. Ticket writers are the ones that pay the bills.the police crime department usually do not generate any income. Third is drug unit.Another moneymaker for the departments.

Question

I went past that sign this morning. It seems to me that that sign should not be on 466a but on an entrance road into the villages. That sign is very confusing and I can't believe that for that stretch of highway you must reduce your speed from 45 to 20. Makes no sense to me.
