Paypal is now requiring account verification . That's what I said...what does that have to do with me purchasing an item using my AMEX card.
To be verified you must give bank info and access.....ss numder...tax ld number and have a paypal sponsored Master Card.
Sounds like there will be an attempt to collect sales tax accross state lines.
I have had aaypal account for 10+ years and now in order to purchase on ebay using AMEX I need to be verified. Really?

This doesn't sound right. I would probably report this as spam to paypal. Don't give any of that information. I use paypal frequently and have never heard of what you've reported. If it is an email, forward to spoof@paypal.com

Just ignore the request for bank information and click "continue" and your regular credit card will be used for your payment. I hope Paypal has received enough complaints that they wlll clarify their instructions.

Paypal offers the option to link your bank account to your paypal account so that you can have purchases debited directly to your bank account. To use your credit card for payment, there is no requirement for additional information beyond the card number and expiration date...

I do get several spam messages each month saying that I must re-verify my account information or that my Paypal account is about to be shut down... I just ignore these. It's different if you are getting a request for something during a transaction.... be cautious here and log onto the paypal website and log in to get information about your account. NEVER get to them by clicking a link in an email.

It's funny what people are sensitive to. I never use eBay because I've never been comfortable with it. Yet I had no problem verifying with Paypal.

Paypal has worked well for me. I use it all the time to Send Money through Discover Card. I often go to dinner and split the check, sending the money while we're still at the table. They give me 1% back for doing this. I don't understand it, but as long as they continue giving me the bonus I'll keep using it. BTW, I keep nothing in the Paypal account. Whenever someone sends me money I immediately transfer to my bank.

I've used PayPal for a number of years now and as recently as earlier this week. I've never been asked for verification except for when I first setup the bank account and credit cards.

BTW, you can only set the PayPal account up with the default draw on your bank account. If you want to use your credit card you have to change the method while processing every time you use PayPal. This frustrated me every time I used it and I called to see if the default could be changed. I was told that default can't be changed!

I set up my PayPal account over 10 years ago using a low-limit credit card I use only for online purchases. I have never allowed access to my bank account and PayPal has never required it.

I do, however, frequently get email phishing messages from "PayPal" asking me to confirm my account information. If you mouse over the "click here" link (without clicking, of course) you can easily see that you would not be directed to PayPal at all. I often wonder how many people have been scammed by these scums.

DON'T give out that information. Log into your account and see if there is a message. Sounds like an attempt to get your information and has nothing to do with Paypal.

I use Paypal all the time. It's linked to my Amex credit card. I've never given them bank account information, and never will. I do use their enhanced security measure in which they sent me a card that generates a random code. When I make a purchase I have to provide my email address, password, and then a code randomly generated by the security card. So, if a hacker knew my email address and password, he could still not make the purchase without the additional code from the security card.

I used pay pal for years and never had a problem but suddenly had a $1000 charge to my account and then some one changed my password. I was able to resolve this issue but closed my account. I am always very careful about my information so have no idea hw this happened. Resolving the problem was rather complex but Pay Pal did resolve the issue. I just felt better closing the account.
