100% scam. I have received e-mails to update my PayPal account by sending the requested personal and banking information and I don't even have a PayPal account and never have had an account.
NEVER ever give out personal information out, pure and simple. VG |

Rule of thumb: When you get an email that says it is from Paypal, ignore and delete it unless it addresses you by name. If it says Dear Paypal Customer or something like that, its spam and dangerous. Delete key is the perfect solution.

I set up my PayPal account in the late 1990s and absolutely HAD TO link it to my bank account! When I receive money via PayPal, I always immediately withdraw it into my bank account. When I make online purchases that can be paid for using PayPal, I click on the option to 'change funding source' and use my linked credit card rather than my bank account. It costs no more to do so and it earns me frequent flyer miles! But yes, there is definitely a bank account linked to my PayPal account!

Just be sure to forward it (without comment) to 'spoof@paypal.com' first so they can root out the evil. Then delete it. They need to know where these things are coming from to stop them.

We linked our bank info some time ago. It's really not necessary if you're buying items on Ebay with your credit card. However, we also use PayPal to wire money to our daughter who is a grad student in Europe. With a direct link we can specify the source of the money (credit card or bank account) and send it. She picks that up on her PayPal account over there and redirects it to her bank account that is also connected to PayPal. For us, it's very handy AND it's dirt cheap to do as opposed to actually wiring money from our brick and mortar bank. Hope that helps...
