Coming home from Sweetbay there was a line of carts headed toward one of the squares or somewhere.

It's the Italian Parade at Spanish Springs, and the Italian Festival at Lake Sumter.

Another reason it's good to get our paper here. It will let you in on what has happened and what is going to happen!! Sometimes you also get fliers in it with coupons etc. as well...you won't get those if you buy at the mail-stations (so I've been told).

I was coming home around 3:30 today and thought there seemed to be alot of traffic...THEN I remembered the Italian Fest!!

I was among the brave and hearty who watched the whole parade in the pouring rain !! Only in TV would so many people stay and support their neighbors who were marching . It was a happening for sure !

We had our 3 year old granddaughter and couldn't make it down until after the parade. She LOVED the music and the twirlers and was even given a private baton lesson from one of the lovely ladies. She wasn't impressed with the "tall people" though and I had to show her a video of stilt walkers when we got home so she could understand the concept. As usual, another great event. Not having to fight the crowds was a plus.

Default Italian festival

We just got back from the Italian festival and both squares were very busy. It rained the minute the parade started and stopped minutes after it was done. It's like someone said "start the rain, the parade is coming". All were in good spirits though. It was a fun time. Saw the cheerleaders, twirlers and some kind of dancers. They were entertaining.
