Default sago palms with asian scale

Dying sagos all over the place in TV common areas as well as homes. Anybody know if any effort will be made to save them. It can be done, but the problem has gotten way out of control.

I have several in my yard in SoCal. They are expensive!

once scale has become so evident that the fronds are covered it is almost impossible to eradicate the problem. i watch mine at home constantly, and will treat them immediately with dormant oil spray or use a systemic product if i ever see scale developing. one of the biggest challenges is that the scale predominates under the fronds and most people spray only the tops of the fronds. keep your sagos healthy and be aware of the scales and you will have lovely plants. the ones in the public areas that are suffering will most likely be removed as it is too late to aggressively treat them.

Here is what I did as a last resort and it worked. I was washing the house with a gal spray jug filled with 1/3 clorox,1/3 simple green and 1/3 water. I sprayed that sago with it, completetly soaked it, let it stand ten minutes then rinsed (like the house) with the hose. I added palm fertilizer after (epsom salt) and wa la a beautiful green Sago again!
