To the idiot on Pinelles wearing a yellow shirt. Realize you just about became road kill today. Sticking your arm out and veering in front of a car at the same time will get you killed. Pay attention. I didn't hit you by some stroke of luck...next person will.

I know there are irresponsible bikers, cart drivers, car drivers, walkers etc. However I choose to come at it from another direction: Thank goodness these people are out living life. Yes, they can make mistakes and possibly cost their lives. However, as a group of seniors, do you know how refreshing it is to see people out and about as opposed to their counterparts everywhere that are couch potatoes with no exercise: essentially no life. I choose to see the glass as 1/2 full as opposed to 1/2 empty. TV is a place to really live your life!

Ohhappyday sounds like a positive and enthusiastic person. But it would sure ruin the mood to hit a bicyclist.
I think all anyone is saying with the car/cart/bicycle/walker posts is ..... please, please, please drive defensively.

Wow - lots of carrying on today about how "other people" operate their vehicles or selves being propelled down the road. There are lots of us inhabiting a small area right now and we just need to try and be patient, courteous, considerate, and STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE dammit!

perrjojo - aren't cars supposed to signal well BEFORE they begin to execute the turn? somehow i think a cyclist should do the same - rather than signal at the same time that the turn is executed!

Somehow there is another side to this story as usual. I agree with everyone about sharing the roads, it's busy, and good we are all out. But there are also too many drivers that when a lane merges for golf carts or bicycles, the impatient drivers behind the cart/bike seem to SPEED UP versus letting them over. Sure the biker signaled their intent knowing the driver behind SEES road narrowing and will let them merge, but than speeds up and blames the biker. Things that make you go...Hmmmm

The problem is I was passing...he swung his arm and self right out in front of me at the same time. No warning. I actually don't think he even looked. I bike too...the thread was in hopes that individual was on here and would realize how close he came to getting hit by his actions.

The cyclists think they own the road down here. A friend of mine used to work at the Morse gate and he told me these packs of cyclists would come roaring towards the gate and expected the attendant to just raise the arm for them so they didn't have to stop. He said he wasn't allowed to do that and when he made them stop, they cussed him out in front of other drivers, or better yet, they would go around the gate arms and flip the attendants off.

The cycling world right now is in turmoil many people believe that every cyclist is Lance Armstrong a liar cheat obnoxious person that is not true however there are some cyclist that truly have lances character I issues ,, the real facts r we have just get along... For the lif of me I just can't understand why they ride in the road when we have multi paths that we share. When I hear of cycling injury I have zero sympathy for them there was much safer way to enjoy there passion. And they chose to roll the dice. I always lay on my horn as I approach them till I pass by them so they are aware I am there. That is for there safety. I believe if we all did this it eliminate many tragedys and inform the cyclist we se them!

Just a thought without arguing here. "Laying" on the horn as you say sometimes only scares the cyclist and may make matters worse. They ride on Pinnelas and other secondary roads in TV because that is where the multimodal path resides. For some one to say they were "passing" the cyclist and they veered out in front of them says they were not "passing" them yet but were going to. AND, that means there must have been an intersection or merging lane the cyclist was near. JMHO.. We all need to share the road and as many posts say, knowing some roads are shared by carts and bikes. Btw, if you think the cyclists should ride on the multimodal paths, listen to people whine about going slow for the carts and people walking on them. Lol

They need to ride where it is the safest be on the paths or side roads or take another route, I have to do that I my golf cart,,,however this the attitude of some of those cyclists "it is legal for me to ride here so I am going to do it" oh well it is there choice,, but when something happens please know ur survivors would hav wished u would have ridden on the path! I never worry about scaring a cyclist with my horn,,, I always start tooting as soon as I see them,,, they can hear me coming...that way they can be like at dog with there ears all perked up by the time I pass them,,, be careful out there
