According to the news this morning, they've killed 23 pythons so far. The thought is that many will be killed now that the weather is cooling off and the snakes need to move out of the grass to get the sun's heat. The hunt ends February 10.
I know that the pythons are not native to Florida but they are magnificent creatures. I really hate that another method can't be considered or used to remove them from the Everglades.

How do they know there are thousands if they have only found 23 at this point. I know they are saying because of the habitat damage, but maybe it is something else causing the problem. Obviously no has seen them in mass numbers so perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree!

Why can't they train a whole bunch of good pythons to go in & get the bad pythons? A Python Patrol.
That's what the IN-ARE-AY would do. (keeping it non-political)

Just read the article in Daily Sun regarding the python hunt. A veteran hunter was quoted that he has killed a twelve foot snake the past two years and each contained 50 eggs.
