Sadly this blog has changed with many who take great pride in humiliating others. I have seen many good people leave. This blog I'm sure was not intended to hurt people. Many blogs now have an option to ignore people so when you create a post a troll post will never bother you again. Times have changed and there are many nasty individuals out there with a goal to hurt others. You will see these individuals over and over sharing nothing but insult and thinking to themselves how clever they are. The best advice to TOTV is try and help others by having an ignore button option for this site. I use kitco.com blog and it works great.

Go to User CP. Edit Ignore List. Just add the name of the poster you wish to ignore. |

Silvertoken, there is indeed an ignore feature on this message board and I agree, using it might help lots of people feel more comfortable on this site and if they have problems on other sites, look for or ask where that feature is.
On this particular message board, one must activate it in their User Control Panel. To access it, look at the bar atop the postings...you'll see this......User CP is there. Click on it then look for Ignore....think it's on the left side of the page that comes up. I sometimes wonder why people don't use this feature, especially if they are continually bothered by certain people that post.

Silvertoken, Most of those who posted were rational, not emotional, yes, a few were insulting, but so were you, calling someone's post "unintellectual" very early on.
As a former agent in Child Protection, and an expert witness in the subject in several central florida counties, I do not take the risk that you described to a 3 year old lightly. Allowing dogs to go to the fence where you know a child is playing where contact through the fence happens to tiny fingers could result in a bite. Not to mention the aspect of neglect by caretakers that you described. I understand your feeling of ownership and zeal to coerce authorities to make a dog park, but most of the posts in your original thread aside from your own were coming from sincere people who not only do not share your agenda, but who see you and your group as out of line. Either the child is in harm's way or not. It was your statement about the child that provoked my outrage. I have no interest in humiliation, but your alleging others humiliated you does not affect whether the child is at risk as you claimed. |

I've been working diligenty with child protection services on a case of a person that was bipolar. Trying to help someone has its drawbacks. Ive delt with people that had diabetes and various other mental problems and never had the problem that I do in Florida. It amazes me that a sheriff can deny a person medical attention. I realize that the mental clinics are full and there is no room. I. I know I cant help everyone and it gets frustrating. This child I was taking about is making me very nervous because I'm not at the park to supervise all the time. I had no intention of ignoring you and was only thinking of the people trying to get help on here. A blog does not show emotion so its hard to relay feelings of situations and people take the post the wrong way. My problem is much like yours as far as past traumatic events go such as mine when I saw a childs face get bit off because it went too close to the dogs food dish. Im sure seeing parents cry seeing their children being taken away has been implanted in your mind. Yes my group is out of line at times and I mediate and try to stop these events from getting worse. To be honest there are times I want to quit. I want to help this child that I'm talking about and find it amazing that his grandfather ignores the situation at hand. I cannot tell all on blog of these problems and maybe you being more professional may be of help. So I hope you dont take it lightly, because I'm not either.

I sympathize with your wanting both safety for the child and for the dogs to run free. IMO it is impossible to supervise other people's dogs off lead. I hope nothing happens to exacerbate the situation, but I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

Too bad there is not a TOTS (Talk of The Stonecrest) you can use to solve your problems.

You're right, DougB. After plowing my way through it, I shook my head and wondered why I had bothered.... The most chaotic and unfocused thread I can remember in a long time! What were we thinking?...

This is not a blog. It is a forum or a chat rooom. Big difference.
