Default FYI- Lady Lake Police Dept Dispatch

Special Attn: Lady Lake Residents who live in Lake county and all general public:

Did you know that tomorrow 7/23/13 at 2 pm you are cordially invited to the town of Lady Lake town hall where they will be holding a public meeting for all interested persons regarding the turn over of police dept dispatch to Lake Co Sheriff Office/Sheriff Gary Borders by Oct 1, 2013 ?

If you are a concerned Lady lake- Lake county resident/homeowner/taxpayer/seasonal resident or just a concerned citizen, you must attend!! The impact by losing the awesome small town public service Lady Lake dispatch center provides in your beautiful town of mostly retired citizens is immeasurable. Turning dispatch over to the Lake County Sheriff is NOT what you want. We cannot let this happen. Please please please attend and bring your note pads and questions and let your voice be heard.

As a retired 911 coordinator of a township police department, my heart goes out to this group of dedicated public servants. We are still in Michigan and will be new Mira Mesa owners next week, but if we were there, I would attend this important meeting. Unfortunately this is a trend all over the country as municipalities scramble to balance their budgets. The old quantity ($) VS quality battle. Good Luck Lady Lake 911!

If Lady Lake moves to County dispatching, it also puts them on the same radio frequencies with the sheriff's deputies in the area, as well as the Fruitland Park police. Lady Lake saves a bundle of tax dollars by not having to staff a dispatch center 24/7, and the residents get a better coordinated police department.

If you live in the unincorporated portion of the historic Villages, you are already receiving sheriff's dispatch services, only now, with this change, ALL of the officers in the area will hear the call go out.

I fail to see the downside.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Thank you so much! Its sad to think that the money thing has the power to potentially take over and public service/ community service given the residents by the Lady Lake communication center will take a second seat.

That's my feeling. If it can save us money and have the same or better service, why would we not want that to happen?
