Default Prius

I am thinking of buying a Prius very soon. If anyone has bought a new car at Ocala or Leesburg Toyota dealerships please tell me about your experience .

I was just in Las Vegas and took a Prius cab from the hotel back to the airport. I asked the driver what he thought about the car. He loved it. The batteries were still fine after 5 years and the car had 379,000 miles on it! WOW.

I was told that the batteries are now guaranteed for eight years.

The question I always have is that how much are you going to save in gas over buying a Corolla over time. Will you save the difference in the price of the car?

Obviously a Las Vegas cab driver who puts on 379,000 miles in a few years is going to make out very well but living here in the Villages where I use a golf cart for much of my local travel would I really save? I put 7,000 miles on my car last year. At 20 mpg that's 350 gallons of gas. At $3.50 a gallon thats $1,225. If I do that over eight years ( the expected lifespan of the batteries) I will have spent $9800. I would only save a portion of that if I were to buy a Prius. Even if I bought a Camry I'd still be saving money. I used 20 MPG as a number. Both the Camry and Corolla get better mileage than that and cost less than a Prius except for the new Prius C which should be compared tot he Yaris.

Why would you only be doing 20 mph?

I have a 2007 Prius that has just over 100k on it.
I love it.....one of the best cars I've ever owned. I get 50+ mpg. It rides nice and has TONS of storage space.

Folks are surprised that I carry all my tools and ladders in it with no problem.
It also has a lot of power and is no problem on highways, etc. I usually drive fast.

It is also techy. Bluetooth, keyless entry and start, back up camera, etc. The hybrid batteries are warrantied for 100,000 miles or 10 years. (15 years in some states). There is currently less then 1/10 of one percent failure in these batteries and the cost has come down quite a bit......I've spent more on transmission problems with a regular car. I am not worried one bit.

Other then normal maintenance like oil changes, etc, it has needed nothing.

I'll buy another in a heartbeat........

Herv here on TOTV can tell you much more about them...(Carguy).

Just my two cents.....

Frank

Default Prius

We get better gas mileage with our Prius than our golf cart, so we use our car more than the cart. We love it. We were told by another Prius owner to go to Ocala. They said the store in Leesburg is new so we'd probable get a better deal in Ocala & they had just bought their second one. We went from a mini van to the Prius so we were a little worried, but it didn't take long to get used to it. Love it

My buddy who lives in the Villages is on his 3 Prius (now has 13 Prius V).
On his prior Prius's he put on over 80 K on each & the only expense was NORMAL MAINT.

I bought it yesterday in Leesburg! I negotiated a good price and am very pleased. It drives beautifully. I get an 8 year, 80,000 mile warranty on the hybrid electrical, lifetime on the gas engine and 3 year/30k bumper to bumper. I plan to drive around the state to discover Florida, and do go outside TV quite a bit. I do put the miles on, I was spending $50 a week on gas in my Honda truck. The dealership was great, I did my due diligence on the Prius and talked to other dealerships, decided on Lessburg. I am happy with the price of the new car and my trade-in, and love the car and the gas savings will be wonderful for me. Yes, I could have gone with a less expensive gas car but wanted something that will hold value, I am trying to be more Eco conscious, and especially concerned about safety in a car, Prius 2013 is rated a perfect 5 stars for overall protection in government crash tests. Since I do a fair share of freeway driving this was important to me.

We just bought a Prius V a week ago, as we are honestly averaging better than 45 miles to the gallon (BETTER than EPA reports!) The car is terrific, and with the Prius V, you have the advantage of more room and a small SUV-type cargo area. We didn't buy it in FL, so I can't help you with the dealer question...but I think you will love, love, love the Prius. Good luck
