Default Brownwood Halloween festivities.

My husband and I went Wednesday night and it was so much fun that we went again last night. It was a crowed, fun, festive night with lots of costumes and children. I couldn't help but think about our "outside" neighbors. They were there in full force with families of all ages. I hear so many worries about these "outsiders" coming to the squares and it made me think; tonight we Villagers were good neighbors encouraging families to come. I was very proud of the venue we provided. Perhaps we need to be good neighbors more often and the "outsiders" will reciprocate by being good neighbors to us Villagers.

I know you were just using the term "outsiders" in reference to some of the negative, non neighborly, elitist (they think anyway) snobs.....

what they need to keep in mind is the folks in Wildwood have been here many more years than TV......just get off TV bubble high horse and recognize they are moms and das and grammas and grampas just like any of us.

And if one must continue to highlight the isolated case or incidents in these small FL towns....do the same for where you came from....no doubt using the same scale where you came from is no different or any better.

We are glad Wildwood has been so accepting of TV invasion of their country side and they know we don't cotton to the snobs way of thinking and acting.

perrjojo: Thursday night was my first time at Brownwood. I listened as one of the people in our group made mention that people currently moving in are all busy trying to out do one another and referenced them as elitists. They asked what I thought about this information and I said, if true then from an economic standpoint I am all for it because the more they pay for their homes the higher in value mine will rise. Personally, I am anti-elitist and have always been accessible to others. I therefore find it unfortunate that you seem to find the need to separate groups by terms of outsiders"
vis a vis "we villagers were good neighbors" How with such a bias can you determine if perhaps those outsiders are also good neighbors?

Personal Best Regards:

I was being facitiouus because of previous elitist statements. I thought it wonderful that there was such a mix of people and that it was a great evening. I was suggesting that rather than worrying about neighbors outside TV, that we in TV have a responsibility to be a good neighbor. I am far from elitist!

I have never experienced anyone from outside TV not being good neighbors to me. Have you?
BTW could you define an "outsider" from your prospective?

Thank you for understanding my post. Yes, we have a responsibility to be good neighbors and not take an elitist stance. It was a great evening with a friendly vibe. I loved it. That is why we went two nights in a row.

Again my point was, many think Wildwood and Fruitland park will not be good neighbors. Perhaps I was not articulate enough to explain that if we want good neighbors, we must first be a good neighbor. This festivals was certainly a good neighbor event on behalf of all communities. It gave me a good old fashioned feel good high. I only referred to the outsiders due to attitudes of some previous threads.

No I have not! I only reference some previous threads and I used the term "outsider" as meaning anyone not living in TV. I do not have that thought process but many on TOTV do. Sorry if my comments were misinterpreted. Why would we go two nights in a row if we did not enjoy being with our neighbors?

Went back and reread your OP. The intent you are explaining just doesn't come accross. Maybe you should have posted what you said in your explanation............or maybe some smiley's would have helped.

Maybe I need to go back to school and take a creative writing course.
Or maybe I just should have said it was a great event and we loved it.

Perrjojo is a good egg and a consistently reasonable poster. I got what she meant and I was glad to hear it.

Today we played golf with a nice gentleman who said that their church entertained about two thousand folks last night. They had candy and hot dogs and soft drinks and inflatables and games for the kids.

There is a lot of good going on here. I love this place.

Do not despair. At least one person realized you were admonishing previous posters who have expressed much disdain at non-villagers using villagers' amenities. I thought your original post was positive.
