Default Question re insurance website

I hope this won't be perceived as "illegal" to comment on.

My husband thought that he heard that our country farmed out the job of creating the new health insurance website to computer techies in Canada, our great neighbor to the north of Vermont. Beautiful country; great folks.

If true, just wondering, why we didn't give the task to the huge amount of unemployed computer techs in the U.S.?

Perhaps he misunderstood or misheard that news?

what's more - 'Michelle Obama's Princeton classmate is top executive at firm that that built disastrous Obamacare website after being awarded no-bid $93m contract' []Michelle O's Princeton classmate is exec at company that built Obamacare website | Mail Online

and then - it might be due to the cozy relationship with valerie jarrett's dgtr and cgi [http://news.investors.com/ibd-editor...selection.htm]

and now - a campaign bundler's company has been hired to 'fix' the website! [and this company is a subsidiary of united health group!!!!!!!!]

it might be that none of these articles/this information have/has anything to do with obamacare - but then - just maybe they do! who's to tell?

The parent company - CGI -is Canadian.

In 2010, CGI purchased Stanley, Inc., which, the company notes, “nearly doubled the size of CGI’s U.S. operations.” In addition, the company continues, “the combination of talent and capabilities created further opportunity for growth in the key U.S. federal market.” By purchasing an American company, this Canadian firm began federal government contracting in a big way at the right time.

You are definitely braver than I am.
Can we mention the name of our president?

Appreciate that. I'll pass on the information to hubby. Thank you.

Thank you for this very very long article from the Washington Post.
I just read it to my husband...........it's mind boggling.

We both really appreciate this information......

Everyone should read it. I printed it out and also sent the link to our kids.

Hubby had only heard a "soundbite" , never realizing the full extent of all of these contracts.......thanks again.

Does anyone else think about how much private insurance could have been bought outright for the uninsured people across the country for about $5,000/year each, with what has already been spent on this patchwork, hobbling with wheels-falling-off, reject monstrosity of a system?

Realize that the large government contractors *all* have significant ties with both political parties. Booze Allen did billions of dollars of business during the Bush years as well as working on ObamaCare. (Included *billions* wasted and unreported on the FAA's "off the shelf" accounting system that was supposed to save taxpayer's money compared to one custom built).

The steady hollowing out of the federal government and movement from projects being done in house goes back to the Grace Commission and Reagan. As the result, everything is contracted out. The FAA, for example, has 2-3 times as many contractors as employees at FAA HQ.

If the public had any idea of the money wasted by all of the previous presidents during the past 40 years (and trust me, there is plenty of blame to go around to *all* of them) and to all of the members of Congress (both parties) who earmarkand direct projects to their favorite companies, there would be a multi-million taxpayer march to burn them all at the stake.

And before you get huffy about CGI, no foreign companies were supposed to be able to buy North Slope Oil. Before construction had even begun, BP bought out Sohio so that they could participate. No one said a word and foreign companies basically own and run that pipeline. Been happening for years.

Thank you for that. They're all at fault. It's a big game, and we small citizens are on the sidelines.
