My husband and I decided to adopt a family for Christmas...a family I personally know.
The 14 year old daughter happens to be a past student of mine (6 years ago) and her divorced, single mother, who works full time and works hard to provide a better life for her family, has only enough money to live month by month with no extras. Mom didn't have enough money to buy food in order to cook a special Thanksgiving dinner so she took her children to a communal Church dinner. My heart broke when I heard that so my husband and I decided we didn't want that to happen again for Christmas. Her youngest is only 4 years old! This is a magical time for him and we wanted to make sure the "magic" would be there this year. So, we have given them a Christmas tree and all the trimmings, Christmas dinner, and money for presents. Have you helped anyone in need this holiday season? |

Sadly, I'm one of those who lives month-to-month. Not the ideal situation but it is doable with some thought and planning. That means I can't adopt a family (did back in California but not here). There are, however, things I can do for others. I can clean a cancer patient's or an elderly person's home. I can help decorate a neighbor's home for Christmas now that they can't. I can take someone who can no longer drive out to see the Christmas lights in my golf cart. I can go shopping for someone who is housebound. So, if you haven't the funds to help someone, find another thing you can do for someone. The nice part is that this can be repeated monthly and is so very appreciated by those you're helping.

Oops, forgot to give you a cyberhug, Bright, for your generosity. You will make this family's Christmas special. Thank you for doing that.
