Default Jan & Terry's Diner

Jan and Terry's Diner, 1000 Bichara Blvd., 352-750-0010

Formerly Chi's Grill. Next to the Hallmark Store.

Great food. Most items are made from scratch. I had the best Maryland crabcakes since leaving Delaware two years ago. The chicken parm was huge and delicious.

The staff (owners) are very friendly. Service is great. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.

Chi's Grill? Isn't that where the best cheese steak sandwhich in the villages was served up? Hope Jan & Terry got the knack for that when they took over!

Is this where the Indian Restaurant was located, or on the other side of Hallmark?

When you are facing Hallmark, the diner is on the left.

Did Chi's relocate? Loved their Philly cheesesteak.

The owner didn't tell his clients that Chi's was closing. He and his wife are getting a divorce. He didn't tell the new owners if he was going to relocate.

Their Philly cheesesteaks were the best in the area.

it's next to where the Indian Restaurant used to be. If you're looking at the Indian Restaurant, it is two stores to your left.

Wow... didn't know Urban Curry/Grill had closed. Not a big loss as far as Indian food goes but sorry to hear about Chi closing. Lots of restaurant turn over around here. I'm glad TOTV keeps us up to speed.

Default Jan and Terry's Diner is GREAT

Ate lunch there today. Then the owners started handing out free samples of a delicious coffee cake, lasagna, and crab cakes to all the customers. I saw their cakes and pies get served and by then I was too full to try one. OMG can those ladies cook. We will DEFINITELY go back to try their breakfast and dinner menu.
Wonderful people too.

I hate to make these comments but feel I should. My wife and I went to breakfast there today. It was our second visit to the diner. The only table vacant was a table for 6 shaped like an arrowhead. In any case we sat down and before long a couple of single guests sat at our table. I felt that I was on a cruise with a table with 4 strangers. In any case they were nice people. My wife ordered a 222 which was 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes. She said the pancakes were delicious as did a women at our table who also ordered the pancakes. I ordered a swiss cheese omelet with sausage and hashbrowns. My order came out with american or cheddar cheese with home fries. The waitress said that they ran out of hashbrowns. It took about 45 minutes to get our order, entirely too long. I think the cook just works on one tables order at a time but it was an inordinately long wait. The owners filled our coffee cups frequently. No problem there. When I went to pay the bill I mentioned that I didn't get the cheese I ordered. She looked at the check and sure enough, swiss cheese was on it. She called the cook from the kitchen and told him about the cheese mixup. I didn't mention to her about the inordinate amount of time to get our order. However, they seemed to be frantic and disorganized and I'm sure they are aware of this.

I'm sure they are trying but need to get their act in order. Because of the above I will probably not be going there for breakfast again or at least until the snowbirds leave which may give them a chance to improve service.

Just wanted to give you my experience with this restaurant. The owners seem very nice but seemed disorganized.

jrheydt-your comments here have always been fair so I don't doubt anything you say-I also question the type of tables they use but I can deal with it.However when I was there Thursday for lunch ,even though the place was packed our order arrived very quickly and was delicious. My tablemates also raved about the food.

I had no problem with the food. The table that we were sitting at was in the right rear, the last table. All I'm doing is posting our experience. It was very busy. I don't think the cook was very efficient. I heard one of the owners comment that when they hire people they don't seem to last very long so apparently there is a hiring problem.
