What horse is your Kentucky Derby 2025 pick? 2nd? 3rd?

Maybe we will have a Triple Crown winner this year but that Kentucky Derby was so close.

Every horse that ran in the Kentucky Derby is a descendant of Secretariat.

I doubt it, some ponies love a muddy track, but don’t do as well on dry. There was a lot of talent on the track Sunday, but some ponies just aren’t mudders. So dry track will bring in a closer race in few weeks

Winner is an outstanding mudder but not much of a fadder.

Wonder if anyone will get the reference?

I hit the exacta, everyone did, but not the trifecta, which had Baeza coming in third. The wet surface really made it hard to handicap this race. Hardly anyone had any lifetime experience on a wet track, including the first four finishers. I've never seen that in a K. Derby (you can correct me if I'm wrong).

The fourth place finisher, Final Gambit, had a nice resume but was too close to the rail for my liking. It seemed that #1 and #2, two frontrunners, cleared the way for him at the beginning of the race which made for an easier trip.

Baeza had only four lifetime races all in California on dry dirt, except his first race which was on dry turf where he came in ninth. Also he was in the 19th stall, which makes for an extra long trip.

Just for the record I had the following coming in third:
#7 Luxor Cafe
#9 Burham Square
#11 Flying Mohawk
#14 Tiztastic
#17 Sandman

That’s a smart move on the owners part. He’s won the Roses, not gonna get any more dollars for swimmers by running the Preakness.
However, if the derby was won because 3/4 don’t do well in mud.

Running the Preakness possibly end up middle of the pack or last, on a dry track. There was an abundance of proven runners
