Virtually all circular activities are done to the left, from foot races to airport flying patterns. It seems to be wired into our brains to turn left.

Which has always struck me as odd. When I come to a fork in the road and don't know which way to go, I always choose the RIGHT turn. That way I'm always "right"!

If you are ever stuck in a maze, the surefire way to get out is to always make a right or a left turn. If you mix it up, you may never get out.

As a swimmer the right side for right handers is stronger so counterclockwise works better than trying to turn clockwise at the turns.
