I watched my first “break dancing” without realizing what it was as I was surfing through the channels. Two young ladies looked like they were in some sort of agony writhing and twisting and then somehow triumphant near the end. I was surprised. One got gold and the other silver. And when the Olympics does that, in my opinion, they bring down the value of every single other medal awarded because they are diluting the definition of “sport”.

Judging has been vastly improved. They now watch slo mo video and agree on certain points before submitting scores. Controversy is gone.

It's 'breaking' not 'break dancing'. The many fans of it would disagree with your assessment. I watched the gold medal match. I like to be open to new things.

Squash and cricket were first played in England, and cricket definitely should be kept out of Olympic Games, unless the twenty over format.
Squash would make a change. A very fast, sweaty game, needing lots of beer to recover from when finishing.

“A rose by any other name…” thank you for correcting me. To me “breaking” always means breaking a dish or something.

Breakdancing - Wikipedia

According to this it was breakdancing but breaking became the preferred name. It sounds like some folks take the previous name 'breakdancing' as an insult. Go figure
