Default Deep Shadow by Randy W White, +++

Doc Ford and his pals are on another adventure. This time local. Non stop action and I had a hard time putting it down. I was sad when it ended because it ended. Not as cerebral as some of his novels maybe thats why I liked it so much. Let me know if you agree. Herb

Hi Herb,

I have not yet read anything by Randy Wayne White, but I have been wanting to. I like books about Florida. Just the other day I was in a bookstore where I found a copy of another of his Doc Ford books "Black Widow" on the bargain table for $5.98. I bought it and so now it is on the stack of things I want to read. I hope I get around to it soon.

I thought you might be interested in listening to this NPR story about White. I heard this a while back, but when I saw your review I looked it up. He has been interviewed on there a couple of other times, too. They talk about how he was a fishing guide for a while. He owns a bar called Doc Ford's which I think is on Sanibel, not sure. He writes there sometimes.

Anyway, here's the link....

Boomer, Thank you so much for your post and information. I looked up Widow in my diary and I gave it a good + rating. My note was Doc helps his niece and her friends and meets a type of 007. I have read most of his books and enjoy them. I hope that you do also. Again thank you for your input. Herb

I have every novel by randy Wane White. I just love his books. We stayed one summer (6 weeks) on Pine Island, so when i read his stuff it sounds like 'home'.
Cant wait to get back to Florida next month( ) to buy his new book. I have been holding off till I return, cos it will be half the price in USA, than in UK.
Ifyou like Randy W White, try Tom Corcoran.. So funny

Hi Brit, I agree with you. Randy White captures my attention then lets it go all to soon with the ending of the book. I also enjoyed the novels he wrote as Randy Striker. An entirely different character but enjoyable. Herb

I'm a big fan of Randy Wayne White. I was turned on to White by someone who told me that he writes about Florida in the John D. MacDonald tradition. Being a major fan of the late MacDonald and his Travis McGee character, I immediately started reading White and I haven't been disappointed much. Doc Ford is a great character, and White's ruminations on Florida, especially about environmental issues, are spot on. I recommended him to my 31 year old son, and he read several of the Ford novels in the first month. All that being said, I have to say that Black Widow was not one of my favorites. I just couldn't buy what he was selling in that story. But I'll look forward to buying and reading the next one.
