Lighten up - no one knows the true reason the movie isn't being shown. Until we know no accusations should be made either way.

I took this as I hope it was intended, and had a chuckle

Let's see what others have to say about the topic. My point is just do NOT keep out of a retirement community adult movies we can decide for ourselves whether to see or not. Atlas shrugges is another to be released in Oct and will be a block buster. Will that be shown???
Really, Hundreds have called requesting this movie! Wow!

No such movie in TV. Drive to Orlando, catch an early plane for $398.00 round trip to Chicago, take a taxi to catch the movie matinee near O'Hare International, return by taxi to O'Hare, get a quick bite in one of the many restaurants, and catch your return flight to Orlando. Depending which way the wind is blowing you may get a quick peek at one of the most beautiful skyline's in the world. Pay the parking and return to TV. You can do all of this in less than 12 hours and for just $497.00. PRICELESS!

Not sure what being a conservative has to do with which movies come to town.

Saying that the Villages is "banning" this, or any movie because they choose to show other movies is like saying that they are "banning" Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream because they don't have a store here or that Publix is 'banning" Bird Eye because they choose to carry other lines.

If it's not showing here, find out where it's showing and go there. If the Villages Theaters don't show it, they won't get your business.

I'm sure that this is simply a business decision. There are a number of movies that they have to choose from. They are either tied to a contract which requires them to show some movies or the distributor doesn't carry this particular or they are choosing to show other movies because they think that they will attract a larger audience.

I was thinking after reading this whole thread that maybe the solution would be to open a movie theater close to the villages. There have to be a bunch of people that know how to open businesses in this population, and some people willing to invest.

With all of these people close by in the villages and surrounding developments and towns I would think it might be a good investment. I am not a business person and maybe some people will tell me I don't know what I am talking about but it seems to me that if you build it, they will come if there is truly a need.
I have no desire to see this movie but if the selection is as abysmal as some people think it makes sense a better selection of movies would be profitable. We went to see Bourne Legacy today, in the middle of a beautiful day (house still being shown) and the theaters were well attended.

Although we are looking forward to moving to TV I don't expect it to fullfill my every wish, desire and whim. I expect there will be many people far more conservative than I am and many people far more religious, but the world would be boring if we were all the same.

Also, since there is no indoor pool and people want it has anyone thought about trying to attract a YMCA closeby? Or another private facility like golds gym closeby? Not everything has to be within TV limits.

I'm only about 14 miles from O'Hare -- I can be your dinner and movie companion. And there is now a casino near O'Hare; we can play the slots after the movie! If I win big at the slot machine I can buy a house in TV right away.

that's the great thing about America!! choices to be made!! Bring in ALL the movies and the box office receipts should determine what stays and goes.
off to square now.
So, what did you find out???

I really doubt the decision was political...Purely money..After all there was a great movie shown by a club last week called "The Koch Brothers Exposed"... I doubt that will be shown at the theaters either...No money or interest in it here..Was a great movie though.

Have any of the folks that think there might be a conspiracy heard "Shown in selected theators"? It's the distributors that make the decisions...they look for where the biggest audiences might be as they're in the business to make money. There have been movies I'd have loved to have seen but they didn't make it to our market here---and even in our area up north.

Speak to the managers, they may tell you the same things you've been reading on this link.

I think if you go to this movie's website, 2016: Obama's America | Official Movie Site you'll find that the film is being shown in a very limited number of theaters nationwide and for a short run in each of those theaters. That's not unusual for a documentary.
