Got it at RedBox and watched last night. Love Hopkins in almost everything he's done.
At my advanced age I tend to question things I (still) don't understand. Here's the latest. We really liked Solace,,, 4.5 out of 5 stars. Excellent storyline, acting, visuals etc. A bit bloody and flashes of sex scenes. R rated, Good twists and turns. Would definitely recommend it to others. I like to IMDB films after seeing them for more info, goofs, etc. IMDB was very limited on Solace. As it turns out it had VERY limited release in the USA. HAD to be a financial bust - too bad, can only imagine the $ loss helped the Chapter 11 or such. A shame many people (like us) did not even know about this film. from IMDB> The film was scheduled for a late 2015 release, but the film's U.S. distributor - Relativity Media - encountered financial trouble, and put off the release. Even after the company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the film has yet to be released in the U.S. NOTE: The film was released Friday 12/16/2016. However, the studios who bought the U.S. rights (from Relativity Media), Grindstone Entertainment and Lionsgate Films, only had a "Limited Release" on that day in the U.S. Exactly six days layer, it was released via streaming on the Internet. It has been released on DVD and Blu-ray from Lionsgate

You can rent it on Amazon Prime for $1.99, or $5.99 on Xfinity.

better deal - if you don't mind a short trip while shopping. RedBox, at Publix/Winn Dixie etc.
$1.50; return to any redBox by 9pm night after pickup. BTW - this one was free (a birthday gift from them). Only our 2nd rental at RB, but quite handy.

Solace is fairly new and I didn't go to the theater to see it because it only had a 6.4 on IMDB, I found anything under a 7.0 is usually better to wait and see it later. One Anthony Hopkins film I did see at the theater and recently a couple more times on HBO is 'Fracture' from 2007 with Ryan Gosling who I also like. Fracture I rated an 8 and if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor. I'll keep an eye out for Solace because I do like serial killer movies and I remember really wanting to see that film when it came out, but bad reviews can kill a film.

True. And he is on page 621 of Marquis Who's Who in the World 1995 12th Edition. I am on page 622. He has quite a lot of movies listed already in 1994 along with his Agent's address in London. What you can find in these Marquis books is remarkable. All kinds of addresses. My Korean MD roommate from Middlebrook Hall on the U of MN campus - a Korean Army doctor at one time-- is on page 730. He was doing stress studies on rats while I was in my 3rd year of law school and much of my hair was falling out from the toils and troubles of law school. We had a lot of jokes about these rats and me as a test subject. He got his 2nd Ph.D in 1992 and his fourth advanced degree from the U of MN.
I kind of have a connection with Sir Anthony Hopkins. |

We saw Fracture a couple weeks ago. Both Fracture & Solace are very good.
In Solace AH is a GOOD guy, retired FBI with an innate 'talent'. Heartily recommend the film esp if you are a AH fan. Really do not understand the 'bad' reviews on RT and such. His best, IMO, is still Silence of the Lambs...of course. Gold standard.

![]() ![]() Manhunter is shown on the premium channels all the time, but since it wasn't a big release they decided to remake the film with AH as Hannibal and released it in 2002 in a film called Red Dragon. Edward Norton, who I like a lot, played the Petersen character and I thought did a horrible job of acting and Harvey Keitel as the Farina character as his boss was totally miscast. I thought the movie was a complete mess. ![]() If you have seen Manhunter and became a William Petersen fan from it like I did. Then you should see "To Live and Die in LA" with William Petersen from 1985, I never watched CSI so Petersen was all new to me. TLADIL is on the movie channels quite a lot. It has a terrific car chase sequence, like going down the interstate the wrong way. Willem Dafoe is the bad guy, and he's usually good at that. It's another film that I've seen ten times. ![]() |
