Thumbs up Django Unchained (2012).

Django Unchained - Rotten Tomatoes

Very bloody but often very funny movie with good acting. Lots of inside jokes too. Even the gore seems tongue-in-cheek.

Finally saw this the other night and I agree, it was very tongue-in-cheek, like most of Tarantino's movies! I could have lived without the EXTREME graphicness of the shoot-ups as I didn't see how it added anything but that's to be expected from his movies. The rest of the violence was, I thought, essential to the film in order to portray the absolute horror of what was done to the slaves- absolutely inhuman, appalling. The performances were amazing- casting was inspired, I never would have pictured Dicaprio in that role but he pulled it off. The 2 hours and 45 min flew by! I'm liking Tarantino's "underdog gets revenge" theme of late. Wonder who's next?

Rumor has it that he plans to do a black WWII version of Inglorious Basterds. With African-American GIs taking on the German NAZIs, white supremacists in US uniforms, etc. called Killer Crow. http://thegrio.com/2012/12/28/killer...wwii-soldiers/

Tal, it's been a while since I've responded to one of your posts. Thought you might like to see a movie that came out yesterday- "Side Effects". It won't win academy awards but is very interesting and a cliff hanger. Hope you like it.
