I am looking forward to watching this movie where Matt Damon gets small and goes to Leisureville, I mean Leisureland. There may be enough similarities to The Villages to make it interesting to view as a Villager. The reviews so far have been mixed.

I will probably wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray. So many movies coming out tomorrow I want to see. Love the Perfect Pitch movies.

Attended the showing of the movie last night and enjoyed everything except that our movie passes didn’t work for unknown reasons. The Moviepass servers may have been too busy. I enjoyed watching the movie through the eyes of a Villager to notice the following.

While not downsizing in size, we did downsize in things and had trepidations about the move to TV. As in the movie, we didn’t get much from selling items prior to the move. Did we make the correct decision to make this move?

Leisureland like TV has billboards at the boundaries, multi-modal paths, home models with names, a covering like a bubble over the city , economies of scale and staff that explains things to newcomers. Those that have made the decision encourage others to do the same. It isn’t however an age restricted community.

I would challenge you to see this movie and comment on other similarities to TV. It was fun for my wife and me to watch it in TV living the dream.

I caught this film yesterday and am still thinking about it. I came in expecting a fairly light comedy and there were funny moments (many of which were in the trailers). When the couple went to check out "Leisureville", I began to think that this might contain some commentary on The Villages and places like it (and it did, to some extent). But then it veered into a lot of other areas, from environmentalism to political prisoners to haves vs. have-nots to semi-religious cults to what constitutes a meaningful life. While the film wasn't perhaps as cohesive as some might prefer, it was better than I'd expected (especially the performance by the Vietnamese lady) and well worth seeing.

While I've enjoyed the big franchise films like the new Star Wars and Marvel chapters, it's a delight to find some films that serve up something fresh and original. This one and "Three Billboards Near Ebbings, Missouri" are the two best examples I've found this season.

And to the MoviePass user who couldn't get the pass to work, is it possible your credit card has expired? Ours had and had been replaced by a new one with a later expiration date but the MoviePass app (at least on Android) just seems to refuse to take new information and update properly. It took me nearly two weeks to get them to update my pass and nearly a month to get them to update my wife's pass. Their exploding popularity has left them completely undermanned and their app is just not that bullet-proof (my opinion as a retired software developer).
