Did anyone see "Blue Jasmine" by Woody Allen? I would like to hear some opinions on it.

The newspaper said: "Blue Jasmine" is Woody Allen at his best. Did the movie live up to the good review it got in the newspaper?

I guess I'll answer my own question: No, it did not live up to the good review it got in the Daily Sun. It's not exactly fresh in my mind anymore but I remember feeling dissatisfied with all the characters in the movie. I think a movie should be uplifting in some way but this movie only gave us a very cynical, pessimistic view of life. All the characters were deeply flawed.
Do we need a movie to show us that life is screwed up? Was that really "Woody Allen at his best?" I don't think so.

bUt that is the essential Woody Allen - life is screwed up and people are deeply flawed. Nothing uplifting about any of his movies that I can think of.

I think Woody Allen himself is flawed and cynical. I would expect his viewpoints to be reflected in his movies. Although I did love Diane Keaton in "Annie Hall".

Can't bring myself to watch anything by Woody Allen after he married his wife's daughter whom he was helping to raise. Reprehensible beyond all words.

I haven't seen a lot of his movies but I did see "Midnight In Paris" and I really enjoyed it.

'Midnight in Paris' was just Okay with me, I'm not a big Owen Wilson fan. On the otherhand, I loved 'Blue Jasmine' and Cate Blanchett was great and my wife liked it even more. It was neat seeing comedians like Andrew Dice Clay and Lewis CK pull off dramatic roles and even though Alec Baldwin is probably a jerk, he's a really good actor. See Glengary Glen Ross if you want to see Alec Baldwin at his best. We had just watched 'Match Point' by Woody for about the fifth time and was wanting to see something else by him. 'Match Point' is very clever and very good, it stars Scarlet Johansson and the English actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers that's on that new NBC series Dracula. Also Vicki Christina Barcelona is another good Woody Allen film of recent.

The last four movies that we've gone to the theater to see were all very good, Blue Jamine, Prisoners, Gravity in 3D and Captain Phillips, I highly recommend any of them.

Yeah, I liked Alec Baldwin. His acting was good. I didn't have any problem with the acting. It was just the fact that I didn't like the characters.

i loved Midnight in Paris because, well, Paris, but also the characters from the past arts and music world were fascinating....but am not generally a woody allen fan. maybe he is improving with age. aren't we all?
