Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Saw this 4th installment of the Indiana Jones' movies today (May 22, 2008) at 1:15 p.m. at the Old Mill Playhouse. Liked the first one Raiders of the Lost Ark the most, this new one 2nd, and third one third Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in entertainment value. Then the 2nd one last-- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/indi...crystal_skull/ It will do extremely well probably in the next 5 days at the box office even if it was not as crowded at the Old Mill Playhouse as I had expected it to be. It is a lot like the previous Indiana Jones movies in special effects though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones. Guess I have been a bit spoiled by the special effects in movies like Iron Man and Transformers. |

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I predicted Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would earn $126,224,300 over the Friday through Sunday period this weekend. This was for a competition on The-Numbers.com website. They have a competition like this just about every week.
The movie seems to be doing quite well so far at the box office. ;D |

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Well Tal, you beat me to the punch; I had to see it after work on Friday 5/22 and the earliest show we could make was the 7:10 PM lol.
I hadn't thought about a rating of the four but I agree with you that Raiders of the Lost Ark is the very best of the four. I still remember ducking when that boulder rolled toward me!

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
WELLLLL -- this one may do well in the box office the first week or so, but I thought it was not good. Indy looked like an old man and I was exhausted watching him struggle with his lackluster enthusiasm. The story was incoherent in some places. There was too much computer generated action that looked cheesy as well.
I loved the other Indiana Jones movies, but this one should have found a way maybe to replace Indy with Indy Jr.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Looks like it has made $126 million so far which is about $25 million short of my prediction since it opened on the 22nd of May which gave it a whole extra 24 hours.
Think this one will have some legs though probably not as steady as Iron Man which I liked a whole lot more. |

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
If I had to rate the Indy movies: the first, third, second and fourth - in that order.
For all the hype, I was kinda disappointed with "Skulls." The special effects were "okay," but the plot was not very strong, and somewhat predictable. It was like going to a '60s concert today, and hearing how many of those you enjoyed years ago who now can't carry a note. It's somewhat nostalgic, "comfortable," but surely not exciting. |

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
We haven't seen it, but cousins visiting for the long weekend saw it yesterday and said that Harrison Ford is a bit "long in the tooth" to be playing the Indiana Jones role....

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Saw it and was disappointed. I felt that he stole some ideas from other movies out there in the past few years. The first was the best and I did love the one with Sean Connery.
I agree that the plot seemed weak and he was too old for the way the plot worked. Just because it is an Indy movie people will go see it. I liked Iron Man better.
