Just saw this movie at Brownwood. It's 3 hours - omg! And feels every minute worth. The writers and script throws so many over-the-top scientific, mathematical, and physics terms...to attempt a 'viable' storyline. A lot of 'give me a break' moments. If you saw Inception (by same writer/director) and put the storyline into an end-of-earth Space travel to find a new planet for humans to inhabit - .... same type of movie.
If you don't like organ music, a fully make-upped Ann Hathaway as a space venturer, Matthew McConaughey southern accent in full splendor - the word "Murph" in the script 172 times, and a dumb-looking robot, skip the movie. On the plus side the visuals are splendid, acting quite good, and the storyline could have been excellent if it was a 2 hour flick. The 2:30pm movie was full, no applause afterward - most folks filed right out not waiting to read the credits. OH - Matt Damon was in the movie and had a relatively worthy part. I'd give the movie a C+. BTW I think the guy next to me fell asleep a few times - heard some snorts... |

I have a tough time with two hours movies. I will wait until this comes out on NetFlix so I can watch it at intervals.
Thanks for the heads up!!! Z |

Too bad. I really enjoyed it. But, then, I hated Gravity and everyone loved it.

I loved this movie and even though I had a large drink and needed to "go", I hung in there not wanting to miss any of it. There was a few times I jumped and the story held me right up to the end.
On a side note, astro physicist Neil deGrass Tyson liked lots about this movie as so much of it was plausible/accurate, scientifically speaking. I could have used an intermission and there were a few times I couldn't hear the dialog because of the music. |

Saw Interstellar yesterday. Sitting through a 2 1/2 hour movie is usually hard - you come to a point where you go is this never going o end? but not in this case. Every moment was relevant and nothing wasted. There was not a lot of super-technical stuff that I couldn't grasp. There was plenty of human-ness. Matthew and Anne were wonderful, Matt Damon playing against character was interesting. There were references to 200l.
Hated Gravity. Loved Interstellar.

Sci-fi is not usually my favorite movie genre, but I am a big Matthew McConaughey fan, so I was looking forward to "Interstellar." The visuals were stunning, but the pace in the first 1 hour of the movie was slow. At times the dialogue was way too technical; I felt like I was in a physics lecture. I didn't entirely buy Anne Hathaway as a scientist. Matthew was good, but not great. If you want great, rent "Dallas Buyer's Club" or "Lincoln Lawyer." I would give "Interstellar" 2.75 stars out of 4.

Saw it - disappointed in the last 30 minutes - way too far fetched and not believable.

I saw it in Brownwood about two weeks ago, to me it was much too loud and way too long and kind of boring. However the friends that I was with liked it.

just saw it yesterday....agree wayyy to long...also how many of you could actually follow the dialogue...between M.M.'s mumbling and southern drawl ....many movies now a days are hard to understand....could use closed captioning at the bottom to follow

I liked it also. Didn't love it, and I was very glad I was in the really comfy seats in Brownwood because I could have been happier with a shorter movie, and some simpler technical dialog, but I was happy with the movie. I don't think there was any part of it that I looked at my watch to see if it was almost over.

DH usually does not like long movies or space movies, but he loved this one. He said he would pay to go see it again. His son loved it, too. And a friend saw it twice. So I am thinking it must be pretty good.
