Default Lee Daniels' The Butler.

Lee Daniels' The Butler - Rotten Tomatoes

Anyone seen this movie yet? I usually wait ten days or more to see movies and I have a few Movie Passes I got for donating blood at One Blood but these are only good for a few movies that have been open for quite some time. It seems to vary theater to theater as to which accept passes for what movies. These are Fandango passes. Too bad the Villages' three movie theaters are not part of Fandango's online purchasing.

Lee Daniels' The Butler is getting good reviews from the critics as well as the audiences.

Saw the movie...it was ok.... Forest Whittaker did a great job. I googled the movie afterwards to learn more about the character....based on a true story is an understatement. Not very factual and is a way to highlight where we have come in the area of civil rights.

Good take on it luvmagic2. Saw it too. It was ok. Good historical rendering and I enjoyed going through the historical aspect. Whittaker did do a great job. I imagine he will be nominated. I was just expecting more.

I agree with this. I was really disappointed to read a short bio on the life of the real butler whose name was even changed for the movie. It was pure fiction based very loosely on a true story.
It was not surprising that Hollywood took this opportunity to promote a very liberal issue on a lot of different issues. Ronald Reagan never said to Eugene Allen (the real butler's real name) that he thought that maybe he was on the wrong side of the race issue.
Instead of simply telling a wonderful story of the interesting life of a nice man, they used the movie to drag up everything negative about America.

I thought it was a wonderful movie. We went to the 10:30 showing, and the theater was full. When we came out, there was a line from the ticket person all the way to the street.

A reminder, the topic was asking those who have seen the film to provide their review/thoughts on it.

There have been a number of off topic posts relating to political leanings of a cast member.

If posts can't stay on topic, the thread will be closed.

Jane Fonda is not one of my favorite actresses.

I enjoyed the movie very much. Forest Whitaker may get an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor from this movie. I thought there were some rather unusual casting selections for President: Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower and John Cusack as Richard Nixon.
