thousands of people want to see the movie coming out this Friday called 2016. Hundreds have called Rialto theater because they were told it's being released Friday and they have told us they don't know if they will show it.
Since when do we ban movies being shown in the villages??? This is a politcal movie and this is America where we should have the RIGHT to see what we choose to see. We should NOT have to travel to theaters such as Orlando, Ocala, Gainsville etc.. to see popular movies. I am a conservative so I want to see this movie as it is about the destruction of america by this President. I also feel though that the democrats and or liberals have a right to see their movies. Bring them all in if they are popular. why were we not allowed to see "The Hunger games" I love the villages but do not want to live in a country (no less a retirement community) where movies / books etc... are banned!! Bring in 2016!! Everyone call Rialto and express your opinion. Everyone has a right to see what they choose to see and the box office receipts will determine if it is successful. This movie is brought to us by the same producers of Shindlers List. Instead of playing spiderman in two theaters bring in 2016. Instead of Marigold which has been out for months now bring in 2016. With all the "garbage movies" playing out there and/ or the movies for kids they need to make sure movies made for adults are always shown. Others opinions?? |

Why do you think the movie is banned? Movie theaters don't always show what you think they should...and it is the same in other parts of the country. If they decide not to show it, and it is their right, you may have to drive to another city where the movie is being shown.

Hulababy: Certain people control the movies shown in TV. Also the Newspaper, Squares, Type of houses built, etc. etc. and I could go on. And that is the way it is because they took the necessary "risks" involved in making TV what it is today. Its a wonderful and beautiful retirement community. Enjoy! If the movie we want to see isn't shown here then I guess we will have to go to Leesburg, or Ocala to see it.

it is too much of a coincidence that what is popular ex 2016, The hunger games, and I'm sure others can think of more movies have NOT been shown while 2, 3 movie theaters carry batman or for ex marigold forever!! Don't you think?? I do know for a fact HUNDREDS have called and requested the movie so why NOT play it. I head Ted is so bad many have walked out on it?? Let's see what others have to say about the topic. My point is just do NOT keep out of a retirement community adult movies we can decide for ourselves whether to see or not. Atlas shrugges is another to be released in Oct and will be a block buster. Will that be shown???

It's going to be very difficult to keep from moving this thread to the Political forum, but, please try to stay on topic of the Theatre owner's policy for deciding what movies to show.

Do think it is kind of funny though. I saw Savages last week at the Old Mill Playhouse and had the whole auditorium to myself. An Old Mill Playhouse employee who stick his head in every once in a while to see if anyone was still in the theater; that's all the company I had. |

Well, you might consider that they can't get the movie, at least right now.

Hunger Games was not shown here because the Villages theaters does not have an agreement with Lionsgate Films (see other Hunger Games posts). 2016 is an 'Independent Film' from Rocky Mountain Pictures. Maybe the way to go if you want to see this film here is to contact the Independent Film Club and have them show it at one of their next scheduled meetings. Maybe the film is not 'banned' but the theaters do not have a contract with the independent film distributor to show their moview here. Just a thought.....

All by yourself you say?.....they should have given you a remote so you could pause the movie if you needed to get popcorn...there was no one else to fill you in on what you would miss if you stepped out for food or a pit stop... ![]() |

Sure. The movie theaters are not part of your amenities. They are a private business that can conduct its operation as it sees fit. They do not owe you the opportunity to see a movie you want to see. Now, if they ignore "hundreds" of callers requesting a particular film, and they can get it, but decline to do so, they risk going out of business.

Who is the distributor? Again, they may not have been able to get it right now. And I'll say once again, if it's important for you or others to see it, it will be playing in other theaters in the area. We can go outside of TV for things.
