I see it all the time. People take their young children to movies because they either can't afford or don't want to spend the money for a babysitter. They think it's OK. I don't

Default No, it's not for 10 year olds

Oh, so that's how 10-year-old Hannah Montana's grow up to be 21-year-old Miley Cyruses.

It's all a matter of what you're comfortable with. I am not comfortable around that kind of language or that type of humor. I'm not saying its wrong for those that like it, or use it. I don't freak if I'm out and someone starts using that language, but I certainly lose respect for that person. We're of a different generation (at least the majority of us are). The younger folks are comfortable with it.....I'm not.

I will wait till it comes on on demand.
We went to see the 1st Hangover movie
We hated it yet they made 2 sequels...go figure.
But 12 yrs ago we loved There is something about Mary( the scene w the dog stills cracks me up)
So the question us:
Have we aged that much and that is why our tastes changed??
Or
Do you guys think that The Hangover is a different type of humor from There is something about Mary?
Looking forward to your comments!

Personally I don't find any humor in calling filth "adult humor"! We are just playing into their "dumbing down" tactics by contributing money to their sick agendas! Garbage in - garbage out!

it really was filth wendy. when you go from the wife sucking the guys ??? to the husband to the son??? I don't see anything funny at all about it. What kind of message is that? Maybe that's a guy's sense of humor?? as a woman and mother I find it offensive. Also the one wife touching the others breasts as they all think they might get involved in an orgy I think we've crossed the line with decency. And then we wonder Why the kids are screwed up?? Hollywood produces more and more garbage. We had no idea about the movie at all and just went because it was supposed to be a comedy. Never again. Big mistake. No more dumbing down for this chick. I won't support the garbage anymore. My dollars will speak loudly going to the movies (if they ever create them ) on morals, values and character. Adios to the garbage !!

obviously not everyone will like everything...I personally found it "entertaining"...if you are offended then go see a Disney film...

Cinderella - her mother died, and her father remarried her stepmother.

Nemo - had a mom but she got killed by the barracuda

Beauty and the Beast - no Mother

Aladdin - no Mother

Snow White - was the daughter of a queen who died, the new wicked queen married her father and wanted her killed.

The Little Mermaid - Ariel no Mom.

Mama Dumbo (horrific death) locked in a cage and taken away from him forever

Pinocchio motherless with only Geppeto

Sleeping Beauty raised by three inept aunts

The Sword in the Stone father, but no mother

Jungle Book Mowgli - his surrogate caregivers are father

Lion King - father gets killed

etc. etc.

I like raucous, I like funny, I like potty humor, but some stuff makes me uncomfortable.

I think it unfair to bring Disney into the argument. That is way over to the other side of the spectrum. There is only the ratings to help us choose. And unfortunately there is R and there is R. Nudity used to be the big deal, now nudity is not such a big deal. Not nearly as offensive as when some lines are crossed that we just haven't seen on screen before. We were born in a different time perhaps, but I have laughed myself silly at some danged funny, bawdy jokes. Some dirty jokes just have to use some not frequently used words sometimes, but stepping into something different sometimes makes us feel like we could use a good bath.

I haven't seen the movie, thought I'd like to. There was another movie that had a lot of bad language that close friends and people I respect on this forum said was a hoot. I can't remember which one but Bosox Fan and Pooh liked the same one. I never got around to seeing it either. Can't remember what it was.

I will keep reading here. This sounds a little over the top for me, and I am a naughty joke teller.

comparing this movie to a Disney? these comparisons are MILD in comparison to we're the millers. In Disney yes sometimes we lose a Mommy or Daddy or one gets injured or is missing. There is NO comparison to Disney. Disney usually makes you feel good, is heartwarming, which is good for the soul.

The underlying message for this movie was acceptability of pure trash. OK to be drug dealer, smuggler, stripper, homeless, nerd, clueless, gay, bi, swap sex partners. Paying a fine or sucking a guys ??? is NOT entertainment to me.
Then telling your SON he's got to suck a guys ??? is not only sickening but sends a message to young boys hmmm maybe that's ok.
I will stick with my original critique of movie - Trash Would be interesting to hear from other women who saw the movie. Perhaps men find that one scene funny. If so, guess I'm just not getting it.

One of my favorite movies is 'Taxi Driver' with Robert De Niro, that is certainly no Disney film. The point is, today the movie makers feel it's necessary to include every form of bathroom humor or the film won't fly. The last really great comedy I saw was 'Sideways' with Paul Giamanti and Thomas Hayden Church. It did have a lot of the F word, but it was used in a way that two adult men on a bachelor trip might talk, and the woman almost never used the F word. Five years from now every comedy will include the 'C' word, then what?

Movies are rated for a reason. Parents/grandparents, etc. wishing to take others to movies should take them to age appropriate. Same goes for adults. If a movie is rated R and you are offended by such type movie, then don't go. On the other hand I didn't find this movie any worse than taking kids to movies with lots of violence. Violence promotes killing (in my opinion). Then again, one doesn't need to go to the movies to find nudity, foul language, drug usage, or violence in today's society. It's all around us. Sadly, this is the way of the world.

but the 'good news" is we don't have to accept it nor support it. If we stop spending money at the box office, maybe they will get the hint !!

you know the old saying "money talks"
