I've created my own song list from my library....consists of classic rock, alternative/punk, kick-ass classical, etc. I go from Led Zeppelin to Frank Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Antonin Dvorak in an afternoon....my go to is Peter Gabriel "Secret World Live" and Sting "Live in Berlin"...both phenomenal!!! Also check out anything from Seal

Some modern country artists have a rock feel to them; Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and Old Dominion to name a few.

Kind of fell out of favor with him the last few years, I guess like so many others, when everyone else likes them and they became mainstream I move on. It started with the So album and the song and video to Sledgehammer. He still makes good songs, but I'm not as dedicated. For the live album, I like his stuff from early 80's era, when Peter Gabriel Plays Live came out in '83 I played that album every night for over a year. I was hooked you could say. The US CD was only on one disc and only had 12 tracks, the double album has 16 tracks, I guess in America they figured we were not into him enough to spring for a double CD. Check out that CD is you haven't already. ![]() Here is all 16 songs from Pete Gabriel Plays Live '83 on youtube. This is when he was really into the African sound and Shock the Monkey was his big hit. peter gabriel plays live - YouTube |

There is a share selection on the videos themselves, not the whole list, and I use that a lot on other music websites, you can link the video directly and it's shown as a image with the play triangle in the middle. For some reason, that doesn't work on this website. I'll try the link method, here's a link to my '70s playlist. 1970's Rock - YouTube |

We almost always listen to current pop. On Sirius it’s 2 (New Yotk) or 11 (KISS Los Angeles). I was a music major in college and love classical and many music styles; but my whole life I’ve followed current pop. I never wanted there to be decades of music that I had no knowledge of. It seems that many people are of the opinion that it’s only for young folks, and is all rap. However, much current pop has great musicality, and relatable lyrics.
I wish we had some offerings of this in The Villages, and plan to start a club night of current pop in the future when covid restrictions are over.

OK one more, if you're into the blues. This guy, Mattison sings with Trucks/Tedeschi (he's in the Herbie Hancock vid above too) but was in Scrapomatic before that.

This is a really good article on the state of pop music today.
Excerpt: "An astonishing amount of today’s popular music is written by two people: Lukasz Gottwald of the United States and Max Martin from Sweden, who are both responsible for dozens of songs in the top 100 charts. You can credit Max and Dr. Luke for most the hits of these stars: Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Jessie J., KE$HA, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Maroon 5, Taio Cruz, Ellie Goulding, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Nick Minaj, Celine Dion, Bon Jovi, Usher, Adam Lambert, Justin Bieber, Domino, Pink, Pitbull, One Direction, Flo Rida, Paris Hilton, The Veronicas, R. Kelly, Zebrahead With only two people writing much of what we hear, is it any wonder music sounds the same, using the same hooks, riffs and electric drum effects?" Very successful local band in Cleveland with brief national exposure. Jonah Koslen was original member.Tommy Dobeck on drums. Daniel Pecchio of Glass Harp. Best albums: You break it you bought it and Stage Pass double album recorded live at the Agora. Lot of different slow and rock songs. It might be something you might like. |

This is where I go for my classical fix at night to get to sleep peacefully, but there's a bunch of other genre they offer for free.

I believe now she plays only the country clubs, Waterfront Hotel, private parties, driveway parties and smaller groups like that. I remember when I first saw her, she sang a lot of Adelle, and this was before anyone heard of Adelle. Anything new or old pop she'll sing and she's a great entertainer. Here's her website, which should have her schedule. The Villages, Entertainer Entertainment - Petrina That's her with the spiked blonde hair!! ![]() |
