My Grandfather, a resident of the Villages for 11 years unexpectedly and tragically passed yesterday. He loved music and passed that love to me. I am a classically trained vocalist with a love of country who needs a guitarist and a fiddler one day this week when we have set the date of the memorial service to accompany me playing his favorite song, Halley Came to Jackson by Mary Chapin Carpenter. if we could also play Red Dirt Girl by EmmyLou Harris as that was his second favorite it would be so wonderful. He was everything to me, he was the head of our family and a loving husband of 50+ years, a kind and caring father to my mother, the incredible grandfather to me and my 3 siblings. He did so much for his community and cared so deeply for his friends in Sunset Point. I don't know how else to pay tribute to this man who spent his life watching over me and guiding me when I needed him, he loved music and when I came to visit we would spend hours listening to his CD collection (I think he has over 300) through his cherished system sound system he wired and placed himself for optimal listening. I want to give him his two favorite songs because I know wherever his soul is, will hear his granddaughter singing and it will bring him peace.
