The first 15 minutes of the first episode of Newsroom with Jeff Daniels may be the finest piece of monologue ever written for TV!

And watch the mini highlights of the West Wing on UTube including the one with Martin Sheen - the president - calling the Butterball Turkey hotline.

There is an app on ROKU named MHZ. It has the best series from Europe. It cost about $8 a month. One series from Germany "Babylon Berlin" was listed as the best series in 2024 by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. I am sure it is available off different platforms.

Virgin River has drama but nothing heavy duty. A lot of focus on the romance. Light sexual material.

This was a good discussion.

I've seen quite a few shows recommended in this thread like Reacher, Ozark, Longmire (Enjoyed seasons 1-5, a bit leery about starting season 6 given where it is headed) , Queen's Gambit, Deadwood ,Babylon Berlin, and Schitt's Creek. We started Suits which had a great pilot, but my wife was not a fan of all the bickering and back stabbing and prefers more upbeat shows.

I've heard some very good things about this recommendation, Mister In-Between. Foyle's War also sounds interesting.

A couple I would give a hard pass to, Kevin Can F**K himself (sounds hateful), West Wing and The Newsroom which may be good shows but are more for politically minded people left of center although I am sure there are some exceptions to this.
