Default Brightline

We take this trip several times a year. Groome to Brightline in Orlando. Get off train and always get Uber immediately and 10 min to port. No stress and food and drink available on train or bring your own. Clean bathrooms a plus also!

Drive down a day or two before your cruise and stay here-

Riverside Hotel Fort Lauderdale | Boutique Stay on Las Olas Boulevard

Then drive to the cruise terminal, where you can park for $20 a day.

This is not a fun way to start a vacation. Take a cruise from Port Canaveral instead.

What start and end stops do you put in the search boxes?

Thank you

If you're willing to stay over night in Lauderdale, there are a number of hotels there which offer "stay, park, cruise" packages which include free shuttles to and from the terminal. When all said and done, the parking itself usually works out to costing next to nothing.

As long as you leave early enough then "same day" travel should be fine. The transport companies have back-up plans and the turnpike rarely remains totally closed for long. Most cruises depart around 5pm so if you aim to get to the port by 1pm that gives you four hours of flexibility. In 23 years of cruising we have never had a problem, although if flying somewhere we will arrive a day beforehand.

When we started using Yankee trails over a year ago they claim to have never missed the boat.

Default Brightline

Great tips. We usually take a suitcase and a knapsack or carryon. How difficult is it to haul onto and off of the Brightline? Thanks for the info.

The coaches are level with the platform so you can roll wheelies on easily

The aisles in the coaches are wide enough for most suitcases

Sometimes an escalator is broken, but there is always an elevator just a short walk away

Like an airport, you will have to lift your bags onto the rollers for screening
