Hi! Was hoping some of you TOTVers could help in planning our 3 day get-away to Savannah, Georgia.
If you have visited the area, I would love to hear what you found interesting as well as those places that were listed as points of interest but only found to be tourist traps. Also, good restaurants to visit for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will be staying in the heart of Savannah. Thanks everyone. |

Don't miss River Street - nice walking area with shops and eateries. Take a drive over to Tybee Island. A carriage ride around the Savannah squares is always fun as well. Enjoy!!

we enjoyed one of the guided trolley tours - think they have several with different themes. Look at the city website. They all have them nowadays - look for an Events button.
We stumbled on a great Motown group at City Market one evening (Friday? Sat?) and shared a table with some lady tourists from Ireland, had a great time. You might check out Trip Advisor also. I often get great info there. We like to sit at the bar in some restaurants and talk to locals or other tourists, usually have some interesting conversations and find out where people have been. |

BEST restaurant by far is Mrs Wilkes. Only open Mon- Fri 11-2pm No reservations accepted Line starts forming outside the restaurant around 10 am. Doors open promptly at 11am. When you walk in, you wil sit at a table for ten. Food is family style, no menu. Food is southern style and is great. It's pay one price and cash only. (Avoid Paula Deans restaurant....The Lady and Sons.)
Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room For breakfast, try Huey's on River Street. New Orleans menu with great beignets, creole omelettes, cajun gumbo, in addition to the regular items. Hueys On The River - Savannah, Georgia If you like oysters on the half shell, go to Fiddler's Crab House on River Street. Really fresh. The rest of their menu is pretty good, too. Fiddler's Crab House River Street - Savannah, GA Things to do Walk along River Street....shops, restaurant, outdoor entertainment, etc Take the trolley ride...hop on and off Tour some of the historic homes Walk through the many beautiful parks. Pick up a free map like the one below. Old Town Trolley Tours® of Savannah route map Last edited by rayschic; 07-30-2013 at 02:24 PM. |

The Pink House is one of my all time favorite restaurants. The decor is stunning and the food is excellent. Nice for a romantic evening.

Mrs Wilks is a must.
Also, consider a Bed and Breakfast on or near Jones St.
