WOW!!!
Check out the new Royal Caribbean ship being built, Oasis of the Seas. It's humongus, can accommodate 5400 passengers... The movie (at the bottom of the page) is awesome! http://www.cruisesonly.com/promotion...-the-seas.html

WAY to big for my taste. I personally like the 90-110,000 ton ship with aprox 2,000 people on board. I also wonder how thery are going to power these ships with the price of fuel today!

We LOVE the big ships. Always seems like there's more to do.
We would be anxious to try this one out. Unless Caroline (and you are probably correct), the fuel makes it exorbitantly expensive.

I have been getting so many mailings from RCCL about there new ship. Each time I get another promotional piece of mail from them I start dreaming.
I looked at the itinerary, having been to many of the ports, I think I would rather just stay on board and enjoy the ship. I have noticed that more and more people are not getting off at the various Caribbean ports. They enjoy having the ship to "themselves." We have been on large ships and I am always surprised how you never seem to see thousands of people, that is except for the buffet line. My personal preference - a smaller ship or boat is more intimate and offers advantages that a larger ship is unable to. Then when I am on a larger ship I like the advantages of what they have to offer. There are pros and cons to both. I will just have to continue sailing to see if I can make up my mind. HB |

As a distinct fan of cruising, I have very mixed feelings about this incredible vessel!
The bigger they get, the less intimate they are. I'm happiest with Holland America's 1,300-1,800 passenger ships. However, Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas was a wonderful experience in early 2007! Last Thanksgiving I sailed on the Emerald Princess whose guest complement is just over 3,100. I was astounded at how seldom that number was apparent. Only at boarding, and that hang-up was more due to the too few number of TSA-operated checkpoints. I'm aboard the Emerald again this coming Thanksgiving! I do suspect that many, many of the guests on the Oasis of the Seas will opt to just stay aboard, and not bother going ashore! I think maybe I would, too! SWR

The ship looks great, I hope I can book a cruise before the move to TV. We live in the Ft. Lauderdale area so that's a plus since it leaves from our port (if I read the site correctly). Thanks for the info Mint. ;D

Sometimes the first sailing on any major cruise line will command a higher price. At this time I believe an interior stateroom on the Oasis, first sailing, is approximately $1300.00 and up.
To that you will need to add appropriate taxes. Hope this information helps all of you. HB |
