Default repositioning cruise to Canada

Seriously considering a Holland America 15 nt cruise next May from Ft Lauderdale to Montreal. Ship is the Maasdam. Has anyone done this itinerary or sailed on this ship before? What did you think?

Default Do your homework

We took a cruise on the Zuiderdam about 4 years ago and were very disappointed. The a holland America line seems to be a pretty old fleet. The ship was very outdated and the activities were lacking. It seemed to be a pretty quiet ship....to quiet for us. We have sailed Carnival and loved it. There are a few good cruise lines to sail on so do your homework before booking. Look on Cruise Critics for reviews of the ships. Happy sailing!

Default Still looking for anyone who has done this cruise?

Thanks for the input. This particular ship was refurbished in 2011, and we love the itinerary. Also enjoyed a Mediterranean (Royal Caribbean) and Hawaiian (Norwegian) cruise. Liked Royal Caribbean better than Norwegian. Don't care if I ever do another Caribbean/Mexican cruise (have done 4) , but might if I find a super deal sometime and just want to get away.

Might be that we just like different types of cruises. Our one Carnival cruise was a disappointment. Think we are more about the sightseeing/ports of call.

I have been checking the review websites, but only find one or two reviews, looking for more firsthand info from someone who has done a New England/Canadian itinerary on Holland America

We love Holland America (17 voyages on eight ships; three on the Maasdam) but dislike Carnival and Norwegian (too big and noisy for us).

We did that repositioning cruise in 2010 (albeit heading south) and some of the ports of call are places you'd probably never get to visit otherwise.

Go for it!

Default You've convinced us.

Thank you Foxy! Headed over to the travel agency today to give them our deposit. And right now, for early booking, HA is offering free beverage package, cabin credit and a couple of other things. The Signature beverage package is normally $50/day each! Includes alcohol, premium coffee bar, soda and I think bottled water.

And, we are springing for a lanai cabin right on the promenade deck, so no excuse not to do some laps around the ship.
