It wont be long before pet airlines allow human passengers on board.

My son wanted to fly up north with his cat, the airline charges $150 each way and the cat had to remain in the carrier at all times and the carrier must fit under the seat in front of him. His plane ticket was less than the cat fee, so I asked if I could just buy the cat a ticket, and they said sure as that would give them more room BUT the $150 pet fee each way would still have to be paid!!!

Pets are not in the cargo hold on commercial flights. They are in a separate climate controlled area.

As they should be. Humans and animals should NOT be mixed on a plane. It's called allergies, selfish people.

I had pretty much the same experience flying from Minnesota to Orlando with our Kitty. Paid more to fly the cat than I paid for my own ticket. Probably easier on the cat though than a two-day car ride.

It was pretty stress-free actually for both me and Kitty. Airline rule was that the carrier had to fit under the seat in front of me, which was no problem as the carrier was well-ventilated and we dosed Kitty with some sedative our vet gave us before the trip, so that she was in la-la land for just about all of the trip. Except that she decided to wake up just as we were starting our descent into Orlando, and for the next 20 minutes or so she put on a virtuoso performance entitled Oh Pul--EEEZE let me out!!, replete with lying on her back and rolling her eyes at a couple of kids who were pretty amused by it all.

Kitty may have been experiencing pain while ears were trying to adjust to air pressure. As for the children being "amused " by Kitty's performance, I belive the whole of the plane wished they, or you and Kitty, were on a separate flight.

I would imagine the interior of the plane smells like the old Chicago stockyards. Funny how pet owners can't smell their own animals in many cases.

My thoughts exactly. Would love this, but Ft. Lauderdale is quite a hike to get on a plane to go north. And I am thinking the only option is to drive because of the dog…
