Made me look. Interesting to see the relationship between I-25 and I-10's route there. Reminds me of the flight home last summer and all the research it took to find out what all those arrays of white dots on the ground were, starting a couple hundred miles east of there. :-)

Welcome to The Villages. When you go to the Pinellas center (gold dome building), you will need several documents to get everything accomplished:

1. Current driver's license, and two forms of proof verifying your Florida address.
2. Current registration and titles for your vehicles.
3. Verification of valid Florida auto insurance for each vehicle.
4. VIN Verification forms, signed by an authorized official, for each vehicle. If you live in an area within the Wildwood city limits, you can call Wildwood PD, and they will send an officer to your home to complete those forms. Much easier than taking multiple vehicles to the center.

While you are at the Pinellas center, you can also register to vote, file your Homestead Exemption forms, and get a library card. True one-stop shopping.

If you have all of your ducks in a row, you will leave the center with your new Florida license plates, and your Florida driver's license. You will also leave with a somewhat lighter checking account. For normal passenger vehicles, figure on an all-in cost of about $450 per vehicle to get them established in Florida. That is, however, a one time expense. After the initial outlay, you only pay to renew the plates...which is dirt cheap. Good luck!

No toll on that route. However Florida has many other sections of the highway that do. I purchased a SunPass online, put $25 in it and don’t worry about it. Easy

Much appreciated, and looking forward to joining everyone in a few weeks.
When I came here I ended up purchasing a Sunpass. For $14 you get a device that goes in your windshield. There is also an app and you can set it up so that it auto-replenishes. It's good for other states as well, not just Florida.

I bought it mainly because my stepdaughter lives in Orlando and I make regular trips down there.

Same route we followed from Southern California and there is no toll on that route. The toll from MCO is the turnpike and you do not go on the turnpike you exit 75 at 44 which is right before the turnpike.

This is not something we had to do when we drove across country two years ago from SoCal to TV. Everything was taken care of at the government center with the gold dome.

No tolls on 10 or 75, take 44 east to 301 south

No tolls when traveling that way, as stated by others.

It's the route we, and many others have used to make the 'epic journey' to The Villages.

We have enjoyed every day since, so welcome and Enjoy the Adventure!

Take your time, enjoy the transition. Remember you are a rookie (freshman) at retirement high school. Again, take your time and talk to people for ideas.

Depending on where your new home is in The Villages you may want to take the FL turnpike. The first exit south is US 301 and there is no toll. The second exit is CR 470 or Leesburg and it is a toll exit. The toll booth area will read your license plate and send you a bill even if it's an out of state plate. It cost a bit more if you do not have an EZ-Pass, Sunpass or Sunpass Pro.

I live in The Village of Newell and would rather pay the toll to exit at CR470 than deal with the traffic in The Villages, especially this time of year when all the snowbirds and renters are here.

It is a one-stop deal. Look online as to which documents you need to bring with you, and you can handle all your changes in less than an hour by a friendly and professional staff.

Similiar question. I live in a state without Tolls (Arizona). I will be moving to The Villages and will be driving from Arizona to Florida. Looks like I will be going through states that don't use EZ Pass. As a Toll Newbie, how do I handle this? Thanks.

JB Carts in Ocala. New EV loaded $10,700 and Jaret the owner is great to deal with. ALL his carts can be made street legal right there at the showroom. They take care of everything and believe me the safest and fastest way to go is Street Legal, take it from someone who has been street legal for 20 years.
