Default On the ocean....where to go???

Hi everyone. Hubby and I are looking to go on an overnight trip to the ocean. We have only been to Daytona Beach. We are just looking to have a nice day on the beach to soak up some sun and sand between our toes! We want an easy drive, not too far away. Have any of you recently been to Daytona? I know it's a bit run down but I have stayed at the Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort before and will probably stay there again if nobody has any other experience with Daytona Hotels. Any suggestions on nice ocean front getaway hotels on the East or West Coast?? Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

One of our favorites is Vero Beach.

Easy drive on Turnpike. About 2+1/2 hour drive.

Used to stay at Holiday Inn Oceanside in VB.....but.....
...........since Gloria Estefan has the "Costa d'Este" Hotel...
...it is our go to place........try an Oceanfront with a balcony.

You can also arrange some snorkeling...just ask at the concierge desk.
There are some coral reefs (near shore) just south of hotel.

Vero Beach Hotels | Costa d'Este Beach Resort, Vero Beach Florida

We like Mulligans and/or Ocean Grille for eats.
(Both are between Holiday Inn and Costa d'Este Hotels.)

Mulligans is fun...also can eat outside if you like.
Ocean Grille has a view of water also. No outdoor seating.

Be sure to have your "must have" list ready.....
..Vero Beach is a good place for some "Retail Therapy".

You can beach it...have some eats...do some snorkeling...
...get a "retail therapy" session...hit the spa...
........AND......never get in your car.

One thing about New Smyrna Beach is that almost anything on the beach are condos and very few hotel type establishments so an overnighter may be out of the question. You may try the Pelican or if you are staying for say a week try the Moon Tide. Spent a lot of time staying at the Moon Tide and was never disappointed.

Cocoa Beach is nice as well. The Resort on Cocoa Beach or next door is the Hilton. Stayed at both.
Have a blast where ever you decide to go.

The Breakers in Palm Beach is a magnificient hotel for a short stay. A little pricey but lower rates in the summer. Great golf course on the hotel grounds.
