Massive Yellowstone geyser puts on a surprise show - CNN.com

Three summers ago, our daughter, her husband and their three children were spending one month out west in Colorado touring around.......they made a special side trip to Yellowstone National Park to give the kids a camping experience. It just happened to be when those ex cons were loose in the park. They never knew it till they were exiting the campsite. No one ever told them to be careful..............so be careful.

Our son has gone there as well..........the geyser is a sight to behold.

Have fun !! Watch out for the bears..........

We stayed at Jackson Lake Lodge. Rustic but if you stay in the Lodge itself, adequate accomodations. They have cabins as well although I can't say what they are like as we stayed in the Lodge. At the time, and this is about 10 years ago, there were no tv's in the rooms. Hubby and daughter looked high and low and were quite surprised. The only tv was one in the bar area down in the grand room. In the evening, just before dusk, the moose would come right up to the Lodge. It was just great to see. All the guest would gather to watch, since there really wasn't much else to do. Later the kids would play cards in the Lobby and bet with jolly ranchers from the restaurant.
It's a beautiful place to visit. We went horseback riding, took a float trip, sighseeing in Yellowstone and the Tetons, a trip into Jackson Hole, etc...
The National Parks are just amazing. Definitely one of my favorite.
Also, Zion National Park is breathtaking and about 2 hours from Vegas. I suggest the Cliffrose Lodge and Gardens if you ever visit Zion.

I recommend staying inside the park. The park itself is massive. See everything they have to offer because you might have a chance to get back! Enjoy!

We stayed for 7 days in the past. Noticed the roads are shaped like an "8". So we stayed at the top, in the middle and at the bottom. That way we didn't have to do a lot of back tracking. We saw it all because you never know when you will get back, but we have been there 3x. My favorite time to go is the last two weeks of August because the families are busy getting their kids to school so less crowded. Be prepared because it can snow any time of the year. Beginning of June can be cold and snow. Also get use to hiking. We started walking before the trip and I figured we walked 35 miles in 7 days. Saw each and every geyser, mud hole etc. It is just beautiful country and you never know what animal is around the bend. We had a buffalo walk right by our car in the opposite lane once. I didn't like the boat ride on Yellowstone lake as it was more or less just a boat ride, so I wouldn't waste my time on that (if they still offer that). I also didn't like the tour for seeing animals unless you have good binoculars as the animals are too far away. In the Mammoth Hot Springs area the elk walk through the village. We caught them one night as we had stayed in one of the cabins. We had traffic jams at the lower east end of the "8" from the bison. Have fun. So much to see!
