Cook the brisket with spices in a slow cooker with Guiness beer. One can should work. Steam the cabbage. There you go.

Correct corned beef is an American creation and is always found at any good Jewish Deli. lol

I put my corned beef with the spice pack in the slow cooker with potatoes. I then add the cabbage about 3 hours before the corned beef is done. Works every time.

It is VERY important to let the corned beef rest when it comes out. If not you will get shreds. Still tastes good but looks awful.

Tried the beer thing but was not impressed. Prefer to slow cook it with spices, carrots, & potatoes

Basically, you put the corned beef, cabbage, onions, carrots and whatever else you want in a large pot and boil it to death.
