Default Corn on the Cob Shucking: It works!

Hey Guys,

I don't know where I saw this on Youtube. Maybe I saw this on TV or maybe it was a forwarded email. I just don't remember. But listen to this:

You know how we all hate to shuck corn on the cob. This works!

1. Put an ear of corn (without doing anything to it) in the microwave and cook it for 4 minutes.

2. Take it out with pot holders and lay it on a cutting board.

3. Cut the hard part off the end and hold the ear with both hands, then shake downward a few times and the corn comes out cooked and without any husk at all.

Note: I told my son about this and his reply was to try it myself before telling anyone. So I did....and IT WORKS!

This really does work! In this video you cut off the bottom end before cooking. Just be sure to cut all the way through so that you see the individual rows of corn. Also, I use one of the "baked potato" bags they sell at the craft fair. I leave the husks on, cut the bottoms off, put two in a bag, microwave on high for 6 minutes and you have delicious corn.

There was a recent thread on TOTV about this. Thanks.

It works well!!!! I used 4 1/2 minutes for one ear and the corn was done to perfection. ( I had a couple of ears of corn in the fridge, actually a few days old and generally not good at that point. ) I tried the method and even that old corn was absolutely delicious and nice and hot.

Pat, please watch the bag when you cook. Mom bought two last year, one for her, one for me. She used hers a few times, enjoying nice, hot, perfectly baked potatoes......then the last time she used it, the bag ignited. I stopped using mine for cooking, only having used it once. Not sure the same will happen when cooking corn, but it was a horrible surprise cooking that potato!

Thanks for the corn cooking tip. Always like to find a new easier way!
