We need to replace our cookware. It is really old and hard to clean. The stainless stuff at the craft festivals look good, but really expensive. Maybe we should just bite the bullet and get a set of that stuff.
Anyone have any recommendations for reasonably priced cookware? Thanks |

I have had very good luck finding the pieces I enjoy using at (of all places)
TJMAXX. They don't sell sets, but I never liked sets anyway.... I like to buy only what I will use. The prices are really great on name brands, but it is pick and choose... like everything else at TJMAXX. |

I received a set of AllClad as a gift years ago and love it. It is stainless (not non-stick), but I have learned if it is quality cookware stainless works beautifully and goes in the dishwasher no problem. I have one piece of Calphalon because it was a size and shape I was looking for and am also happy with it.

I also like many of the choices at TJMaxx, but I have owned this cookware for 10+ yrs and am very happy with the way it has held up. I use Barkeepers Friend to clean it and it works beautifully.

I have had a set of Calphalon for 15 years and it looks as good as the day we bought it. Over the years, I have added to it with a few other pots and bakeware. It will last me a lifetime and I couldn't be happier with it.

I wanted all new cookware and spent some time doing some research. Cooks Illustrated found the Tramontina 18/10 Stainless Steel TriPly-Clad Cookware Set well designed with performance comparable to All-Clad.
"This fully clad cookware set is an amazing bargain, with performance, design, and construction comparable to All-Clad cookware (though cooking surfaces are slightly smaller). Sturdy and moderately heavy, with riveted handles and slow, steady heating." They are only available from Wal-Mart. They are heavy. I bought mine online and had them shipped to the local store for pickup to save the shipping charges. I was lucky enough to get my 10 piece set on sale for $200. Right now, they're on sale for $230. You can get the All-Clad set for $700, on sale now at Amazon. This is the set I bought. You can also add individual pieces from open stock. If you need a cast iron dutch oven too, this is a good deal also at $249. |

I was out shopping today and was in both Kohls and Belk, but not sure which one had a tremendous amount of cookware sets. I mean a ton left over from Christmas. They literally had racks and racks of cookware. I didnt price them because I wasn't shopping for cookware but they seem to,have a huge variety of cookware, many from famous chefs....Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, emeril....etc. it would be worth the trip to check out the enormous amount of small appliances too. Seems that maybe sales weren't as brisk as they anticipated for this Christmas season. Happy shopping!!

Yes. Bar Keepers Friend or Cameo Aluminum and Stainless Steel Cleaner will keep your stainless pots and pans looking like new and the pans will almost perform like non-stick.

Have both Calphalon and All Clad and love them and they will last forever. Have had other brands before, but have found you get what you pay for. Another place you can get Calphalon, Le Creuset and many other name brand pieces are at Tuesday Mornings. They sometimes have small sets but you just have to keep checking since they change often.

I'm with you on this. I love to cook and just purchased my first piece of Le Creuset in the past year. I love it. Every meal come out great. I only have the Dutch oven but it can be used for so many dishes that I would be lost without it. I also cleans up very well. The only thing that might be a problem for some is the weight. It is heavy, but its weight is also what make it work so well. I also have some Calphalon, All-clad, stainless, and regular cast iron that I use for various meals, but the Le Creuset really does stand out. And it is also such a good looking piece that the food can be served directly from it while the mass of the cast iron helps to keep the food warm.
