Default 1st 3 weeks

My wife received a retirement incentive in November. She didn't think even twice. She took it!
We arrived in TV just before New Years. Everything for the 1st week was perfect.
Had a couple of problems the following week. Needed a screen replaced on the lanai and had a minor plumbing problem. Using TOTV, I researched recommended contractors. For the screen I called Todd's Screens. They gave me a 1 hour window for the following day. He arrived on time and did an excellent job at a fair price. For the plumbing issue I contacted Patrick from Paramount Plumbing and Gas. Patrick scheduled an appointment for the following day at 1PM, as it was not an emergency. At 1 PM Patrick called to say he was delayed and would be here within an hour. He arrived 45 minutes later and also did a great job at a very fair price. Getting the call from Patrick explaining the delay was both welcomed and a tribute to his professionalism. Both of these contractors were real gentleman. Thanks to all for your recommendations. I obviously recommend both of them.
The following week my wife, Pat, went shopping at Target. I helped her unload the car and then worked with her on dinner for some neighbors. Just before they arrived, she looked for her pocketbook. You guessed it...NO pocketbook. She called Target...they hadn't seen it. Went there the following day...said they'd check the videos of the parking lot. Then they realized that they haven't had a security person for the last 6 weeks...hmmm...no help.
A couple of days later the Lady Lake Police called us and said that they had the bag. We went to retrieve it the next day. ALL the cash was there as well as credit cards, drivers licence etc! A woman from Summerfield found it in the shopping cart and drove it to the police department. There was a couple of days delay before we were notified (and we cancelled our cards) but everything was returned. It renewed our faith in humanity.
After 3 weeks...we now know that this place is for us!

I had a similar experience with my pocketbook, back in August. We were having such a good time at the Square, that I completely forgot that I'd hung my purse over the back of one of the resin chairs. An hour or so after returning home, I realized the purse was "missing"... Horrors. We called the Neighborhood Watch, who in turn called security at Lake Sumter Square. Amazingly, the purse was still hanging on the back of the chair, with the contents intact - cash, credit cards, license, phone etc. I posted this event on TOTV, at the time, and was happy to read that you too have experienced the kindness of strangers here at The Villages. I think there ARE no strangers, just friends waiting to be met.

Shrandell,

What a beautiful thing to say about the residents of TV. Puts a smile on one's face.
