If you're doing 19.9mph in your cart in the mmp lane and they think that you're a slug for not going faster, that is their problem! And their problem is mental. It truly that simple. If they are able to catch you, then they can pass you. You are not the problem. They are. 😉
Yeh, even so I would certainly enjoy it if they had a crack down once a month a pull some of the crazies off the road. Might encourage them to slow down. Probably would never happen for golf carts since I see many autos doing 55+ on Morse and Buena Vista. If rules aren’t enforced no wonder no one obeys them

Actually, I do NOT see it as an idiotic law. If one reads post # 42 it says that the Yamaha manual says that their golf car is DESIGNED for 15 MPH. As another post said - the bad brakes, suspension, and high center of gravity make the vehicle DANGEROUS at over 20 MPH. I think that The Villagers would be safer in the 35 MPH vehicles that need to be street licensed. The vehicle cost would probably not be much extra. The license plate cost and insurance would be an extra cost, but the added SAFETY of one's life is worth the cost. The vehicle would probably drive more comfortably than ANY golf car. It would have a lower center of gravity, so would be less likely to tip over compared to a golf car.

That's the problem. People purchased homes in the Villages EXPECTING to be protected from CRIME. And the driving habits and speed manipulation of golf cars has BECOME so commonplace that the Villages SYSTEM has FAILED to protect residents from this CRIME.

That's why solitary confinement in prisons is the ultimate punishment for even the most hardened prisoner. We are social animals. That is why we react badly when our RIGHTS are squashed. In this case it is the right to SAFELY travel in a golf cart at a reasonable, established speed and NOT to be TAILGATED by the excessive speeders.

As I have said, we need more Police. Golf car speeding may seem insignificant to some people, but it opens the door to more LAWLESSNESS. If nothing else it exposes a problem that is hard to solve. But, NOT TRYING to solve it is even worse !!!!!!

Well, that is not what it says. It says if you are "overtaking". Which as far as I am concerned means that I can use my judgment as to when I am safe to re-enter the right lane. If there is another car in front of the car I just passed, and I am overtaking that car, I am not obligated to put myself into the slow lane so that the impatient jerk behind me who feels it's his right to go 20mph faster than the speed limit, rather than the 10 faster than I'm going, with his lights flashing, shooting me the middle finger, can pass me.

If I can, and when I feel it's safe to, I'll get over there. And I'll be sure to signal ahead of time so he knows not to aggressively pass me on the right the instant he can squeeze between my right rear fender and the front left fender of the car I've just overtaken.

The idea is to prevent the impatient jerk by having the proper Police presence so that it FORCES the jerk to have patience. if there are too many impatient jerks operating in TVLand, it just proves my point that there is NOT enough Police presence. Besides Police, there are lower cost methods like Red Light Cameras and neighborhood cameras. And I know that some fool lawyers are against that. But those lawyers can afford private security and even their own bodyguards.

Many residents already have cameras all around their homes because they feel that The Villages is lacking in protecting the residential neighborhoods. And what about Ring Cameras - they are selling well. Technology can prevent crimes without a society becoming a Police state. Small speeding crimes lead to more serious crimes.

My solution: Might want to jack up your governor to 21-23. No one will know, no one will care. The "breaking the law stuff" is really a gray area as long as you aren't driving recklessly all over. It's the +25ers that some seem to get in a huff about. I just let em pass. But with more speed please have more responsibility. There's a doc in town who has treated numerous people from golf cart accidents, so try not to be one of them. You can get permanently messed up in a GC crash... can be life changing...like a car crash. Straightaways you can step on it when clear but slow down for those curves in the road and watch for other people.

As for wear and tear, yeah you'll have to replace worn governor parts sooner so I wouldn't jack it over 25.
This is why we need to agree to a speed limit like 20 MPH and put on enough Police to make enough roadside stops to KEEP people from this ever increasingly creeping up on their governor speeds.

Actually, I see about 2 per hour going over 30 MPH on my residential street. You can even hear them because they are very much LOUDER than the 20 MPH ones. And it is both men and women drivers, so no bias there......equal rights to speeding. It has become so commonplace that it is under the radar of people's awareness.

25 MPH is by definition reckless and illegal. See why we need it WELL defined and supported by Police ticketing. Yamaha says anything over 15 MPH is more than golf cars are designed for. Why do we pick something like 25 MPH and PRETEND that it is OK.

Unreal. Ridiculous. Today someone drives their cart at 20.1, tomorrow a serial killer? Especially an eighty year old woman
