![]() In Japan "The nail that sticks up gets pounded down." Ever observe Japanese tourists following their guides at tourist destinations anywhere in Europe and elsewhere? An American young man I know teaches physics at a high end South Korean high school. Early in the Pandemic when he, his wife and baby returned there from a stateside visit they had to endure a highly secure 14 day quarantine. They don't mess around over there.

You must understand the mechanics of a virus. I was fortunate to work at the military medical school where lecturers from USAMRIID ( US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases) regularly lectured. Viruses work their way through herds. We are a herd. One way or another you will be exposed to this virus. The masks and isolation are measures used to slow the virus. Not stop it. That way our medical capabilities will not be overtaxed thereby saving more lives. So sorry to break it to you! Your gonna get it! The questions are when and how severe you get it. Severity depends on the shape your immune system is in. Not conjecture here. Scientific fact.

It's unfortunate that all seniors, at some time, experience fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, headache, and, joint pain. Well maybe not shortness of breath but clearly all of the remainder. Therefore it's clear we're a target for any virus and the safety measures you mention should certainly help!

The Florida state statistics are irrelevant to TV. The latest number of new infections in TV is 5 with no new deaths.

A little statistic. 8 million currently infected, 328 million U.S. population means there are around 320 million people yet to be infected. When the 320 million go back to their normal activities which is inevitable, there will be a spike in infections. If there is a vaccine approved and distributed, that will reduce the problem, but not eliminate it. For most, going back to work is a matter of survival. You will 100% not survive without a job, medical insurance, or a home, but Covid-19 is 99% survivable. Being part of the older population, I have no idea how long I have before the lights go out, but I don't intend to sit at home and wait on it. If I wind up being one of the 1% that don't make it, so be it.

In case you don’t know one I do, a life time hospice nurse, and yes it does help to protect the person wearing it. She can not believe how easily people fell for that line, “it protects others”! |

I know. If only someone had warned us that we should close down completely, nationwide, for just a couple of months - to prevent the onslaught for almost a year.
If only we had known... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
