Default Kitchen Soffits. How are yours decorated?

Hubs has taken down all my stuff again and I have washed it all and I want a new look.

Anyone want to share their kitchen soffit scene?

Less is more. And safer! When I see large platters and vases up top, I think it looks nice but dangerous to keep clean. I personally don't like artificial plants dangling down. I have considered adding above cabinet lighting.

we're in Gilchrist, our home built in 2014. We don't like clutter - but simple, tasteful, different things. I like my flying horse the best...

I have sculptures collected from my two favorite Michigan artists. Four are whimsical birds done in ceramic with metal plumes, legs, and goofy shoes, and then in metal are a bicyclist and a dog. Guess which kind of dog. It's all rather whimsical and probably wouldn't go well in your more formal home, Gracie. I had pictures but they're on an old computer. Or phone. Or somewhere...

I went to home goods, bought a bunch of things I liked. Put them up and only had to return one urn. Used some greens but like the other poster, I don't like flowing vines. I also have puck lights that operate by remote. Looks beautiful at night.

Also check out YouTube for tutorials from professional decorators.

how do you get up there & clean, do you use a ladder? i have to climb on top of the counters to get a decent clean job. most of the time it's ok except when arthritis is acting up.

Dust. I like it and you do not have to wash it. Make believe it's a new decorating idea LOL who knows it might catch on. Call them dust bunnies

We have trays that we collected from our travels, many are more like works of art. I think decorating with meaningful items when you can is always better than chotskies.

I was told by a decorator less is best which I prefer as well. The older I get the simpler I like things. 3 items of interest to you was her suggestion.

Regardless of how much space you have? I think you should use whatever makes you happy. I want my house to look like a home not a page from a magazine.

Default Kitchen Soffits. How are yours decorated?

For what it's worth, I did a lot of Googling before I decided what to do. I found a lot of cool ideas on the Houzz website. Here's what I ended up with.
