1. My wife was walking through the tunnel crossing BV at St. Charles and noticied a bicycle, two golf carts, and a Jeep Charokee in the tunnel at the same time last Tuesday.
2. I like the new signs in the roundabouts but I'm still afraid of the car in the outside lane that tries to go 2-3 exits around laying on the horn at the drivers trying to exit in the second lane at the second and third exits. 3. At Morris and Odell Cir near Havanna, there seems to be something that triggers the daredevil in 75 year olds to try to "beat" the car coming around the inside lane. Maybe all the former drag racers travel this route.

While this is a wonderful place and many of us are in a slow down and relax mode. Those seasoned vets living here give good advise It is mandatory that while walking running driving a cart or car. Riding a MC Scooter or Bike. You have to be or drive on the defensive. Or you will get hurt. Look and think ahead and never assume the other vehicle is in control. If you Ride a MC this comes natural. |

I've been vocal about the driving in TV, not that I've driven it much, but when I did it seem chaotic to say the least. I think it all comes down to poor design. Personally, I don't believe any round a bout should be two lanes. When you put lots of seniors in a double lane round a bout going too fast, it doesn't add up. I drive with the thought that everyone around me is going to do something wrong. It's saved my butt so far....

To me, the themes (besides following the rules) are:
--- "Don't travel any part of a roundabout beside another vehicle", and --- "Anticipate what others in or approaching the roundabout just might do". Bill ![]() |

On the other hand...
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the number of 'near misses' seem to have lessened since the new roundabout signs were installed? In the last week or so I discovered that I arrived at my destination without my heart pounding and my palms sweaty. ![]()

Honestly....if folks can't figure out these SIMPLE RAB's & the SIMPLE rules, they need not be driving.
So, here we go again.... ![]() |

uujudy, I agree. It appears drivers have become more educated at using the roundabouts, at least the ones who are not driving here for the first time. The only "violations" I've seen in the last few weeks have involved cars with out-of-state plates.

I mean the official octagonal red stop signs. I gave up long ago on the square stop signs in the golf cart lanes.

You are kidding? Have you seen some of the backups on Bailey Trail waiting to go through the guardshack and RAB at Buena Vista? That is what every RAB would be like except probably worse. No thanks.
It really isn't that hard. We have new signs, there are arrows on the pavement showing where you are allowed to go in that particular lane and just don't drive next to another vehicle when in the RAB. |

![]() I am a Verizon retiree, dating back to when we had a Bell System. We used to have driver training classes, in which the thrust was to "get the big picture" when driving. Those principles have stayed with me, and I wish more drivers would "get the big picture." ![]() |
