They replaced a capacitor in my A/C. They charged $170 for the capacitor plus installation and also the charge to come to my house. I have since bought, on-line, another replacement just in case. The cost was $14. I think that about a 1200% markup. Don't bother calling Carrier. I called to get the capacitor model number. They refused to tell me. They told me to call Munns. Now I know why. I use FilterBuy for my filters. First make sure you get the right size. Just because the filter might say 20 X 4 doesn't always mean it's 20 X 4. It could actually be 19 3/4 X 3 3/4. Look for the fine print on the filter. Lastly, very easy to install so don't let that bother you.
