Default Adding additional slider

We have a vinyl CYV with two 3' sliders off the living room. We would like to open up one of the walls and add an additional 3' to the opening, stacking the sliders to one side. Has anyone ever added an additional slider and who did you have do the construction.

First, you will need to contact an architect, there is a header above the existing sliders. To enlarge the opening this header would need to be replaced ($$$). This is a significant design alteration to your structure, Please do not just go ahead with out a review of the design of your existing structure.

I think it is a pretty pricey proposition to add a slider to a finished home. If it is a structural wall, you will need a header put in place to span the area of the wall removed. Lots of work.

We did add a 12' slider to the existing 9' slider in our Sunflower, but we did it during design while they were building custom homes. At that point, while your home exists only on paper it was $900 to add the 12' slider. We thought that was quite a bargain. But after the home it built it is a serious remodel.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

We had the standard height sliOder.....4 panels with center two sliding only.
We had them replaced with 96" high, 5 panels, 5 track stackable.
Yes a header will be required. Big job but easily done by competent contractor.
We used Fortin construction. They are not the low bidder but are 5 star quality.
